Euro 2024 Qualifying – Friday 24th March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

Four more groups get underway in Euro 2024 qualifying on Friday night on an evening where a number of the leading lights in Europe get the opportunity to showcase their credentials and lay their marker down.

France were spot kicks away from being the world champions once again and they are among the 16 teams who get their Euro 2024 campaign underway on Friday night. We have a couple of eye catching clashes to enjoy on a decent card.

Group B

This is the group with the heavyweight showdown taking place on Friday night. That comes from Paris where the world finalists France take on a Netherlands side who begin life under Ronald Koeman once again. There is said to be a virus spreading through the Dutch camp which might not help their chances. The other match in Group B sees lowly Gibraltar playing host to a Greece side who will have their work cut out to qualify automatically but Gus Poyet’s men are an improving team and know only a win here will do.

Group E

We have a number of groups where the top two ranked sides meet in the opening match and Group E is another one of those. The top two in this group are the 1996 finalists Czech Republic and Poland and they battle it out in Prague. The other match in this section on Friday evening sees the lower two ranked sides in the group clashing when Moldova will look to get off to a positive start when they host an improving Faroe Islands outfit.

Group F

This is yet another group where the two leading sides in it will open up their campaign against each other. Belgium start life without Roberto Martinez when Domenico Tedesco takes charge of the Red Devils for the first time. They face a trip to a Sweden side who will be smarting from missing out on the World Cup and looking to make up for it here. The other match in Group F on Friday night comes from Vienna where Austria will go up against Azerbaijan in what is already a big game for the home side.

Group G

The action actually gets underway in Group G on Friday when the early kick off comes from Razgrad when Bulgaria will look to get off to a positive start in what looks like one of the more open sections in the competition. Montenegro are the visitors to that part of the world. When they are done the attention will turn to the other match in the group where Serbia will look to put a disappointing World Cup behind them when they play host to a Lithuania side who really need an improvement to be competitive.

Betting

Given that we are seeing a number of new coaches taking charge of teams for the first time here I’m not going to go too mad on the Friday matches but one team who might be being underrated are Poland, who should be solid defensively under Fernando Santos and who have the attacking talent to sparkle, a little like the Portugal side the new Poland boss has resided over for the last decade or so. I think they can get a result against the Czech Republic.

The Nations League ended in a bit of a disaster for the Czechs with four straight defeats to end their campaign and there aren’t really any signs that they have improved since the last Euros. The likes of Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek aren’t seeing as much football at West Ham while star man Patrik Schick is having a quiet campaign at Bayer Leverkusen. Poland were a couple of special Kylian Mbappe strikes from potentially taking France out at the World Cup and look to have more upside about them. I’ll go with the Poles to avoid defeat here.
