FIFA Club World Cup 2025 – Friday 4th July Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

We are down to the last eight of the FIFA Club World Cup with the first two quarter finals taking place on Friday night as we find out which two teams will contest the opening semi-final of the tournament next week.

This is the half of the draw where we have had surprises galore and so we have four teams who would have been considered outsiders before a ball was kicked competing for the two spots in that semi-final.

Fluminense vs Al-Hilal (20.00 – Channel 5 & DAZN)

The first quarter final of the tournament is a clash between Brazil and Saudi Arabia as the team dubbed the grandads of the competition in Fluminense meet the team who shocked Manchester City in the previous round in Al-Hilal.

This match will take place in Orlando where we have seen the weather play a part and it might do again here for a 3pm kick off. This is a huge match for both sides. While both will have come here with the intention of going far in the tournament, they can now quite clearly see a path to the final of the competition and you would imagine that is certain to make this a competitive affair as a result. The key thing about both sides is that they are both unbeaten in the competition. Al-Hilal definitely deserve respect because they have held both Manchester City and Real Madrid after 90 minutes in this competition while Fluminense have held Borussia Dortmund and see off Inter Milan, so in terms of form there isn’t much to separate these two sides. You have to give Al-Hilal a lot of credit in beating Manchester City but I would be amazed if they are afforded as much space in behind the Fluminense defence to do their thing as the City back line allowed them and that could tighten things right up here. The question would then be on whether Flu have it in them to open up this Saudi defence, which even though it conceded three to City, has generally been pretty tight. I really think this is a close game and the draw is a huge runner but there has been something about Fluminense that makes me think if there is a winner it could be them. They have kept three clean sheets in four matches in this tournament and five in their last six in all competitions whereas Al-Hilal don’t look quite as solid defensively. It will take a bit of magic to win this and there is enough in the Fluminense side to be the ones to get it. I like them on the draw no bet lines. I’m not a massive fan of taking under 2.5 goals at tight prices but I really think that lands here. Six of the eight matches these two have played between them have been that tight and the longer this one goes the more the teams will tense up and play to avoid losing rather than risk making mistakes. The prize here is huge and two defensively competent sides can keep the scoring down in this one.

Palmeiras vs Chelsea (02.00 – DAZN)

The second quarter final of the night takes us to Philadelphia for the latest battle between a South American side and a European one when big spending Palmeiras take on an even bigger spending Chelsea side for a spot in the semi-final.

This is an intriguing match and one which I would now expect Chelsea to win with the defensive absences that Palmeiras have because of injury and suspension. They are going to be without Murilo because of injury, Joaquin Piquerez because of yellow card accumulation and their captain Gustavo Gomez who was sent off against Botafogo. That should give Chelsea a distinct advantage but before we get too excited they are without Moises Caicedo who is suspended because of picking up two yellow cards and as such that could leave the Blues a little more open to a side who are probably going to need to attack slightly more than usual given their defensive absences. I don’t really have much faith in Chelsea, especially with it sounding unlikely that their best player in the tournament so far, Pedro Neto, is going to be in the right frame of mind to play after the passing of his friend Diogo Jota, so I’m going to leave the match betting alone here and go with a player prop bet which is for Mauricio to have two or more shots. The attacking midfielder is on a run of eight straight matches where he has had two more or shots including in every game in this tournament, even though he was on the bench for 45 minutes of two of them. When he is on the pitch a lot goes through him and he isn’t afraid to let fly when the chance arises. Palmeiras are going to need his offensive play and the slight odds against on him firing a couple of shots away looks good here.
