FIFA Club World Cup 2025 – Tuesday 1st July Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The round of 16 comes to a close in the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday when the last two matches take place out in America on a night where at the end of it we will know the complete line-up for the quarter final of the tournament.

We have three of the biggest sides in Europe on show over the two matches on Tuesday and one of the big Mexican teams so we are almost guaranteed to get a couple of high quality games to keep us entertained throughout the night.

Real Madrid vs Juventus (20.00 – DAZN)

The first match of the night sees two European heavyweights battling it out for a spot in the last eight when the Spanish giants Real Madrid go up against the ‘Old Lady’ of Juventus in what is a mouth-watering round of 16 clash.

Madrid rode their luck a little bit in the group stage but they made it through as Group H winners to take their place in this tie whereas Juventus were through with a match to spare in Group G but they weren’t able to hold onto top spot in their final game when they ran into a Manchester City train which means that they were relegated into this contest. This has all the hallmarks of being a high scoring contest. Juventus have looked really good going forward in this competition. Even though they had a bit of a job done on them by Man City in the last match, they scored twice before they went down and it would be a surprise if they don’t trouble this makeshift Madrid back line. Juventus haven’t looked particularly watertight themselves though. It wasn’t just the five that City put past them but Wydad scored against the Italians and Al Ain had five shots on target against them. Juventus will take encouragement from the fact that Al-Hilal had an xG of 1.88 against Madrid while Pachuca had 25 shots, 11 on target and a 1.81 xG and Salzburg ran up an xG of 1.06 against the Spanish side. Had it not been for Thibault Courtois being in excellent form this tournament could have got a lot trickier for the men in white. It all points to goals at both ends here and I’ll bump up the price by adding over 2.5 goals to the equation.

Borussia Dortmund vs Monterrey (02.00 – DAZN)

The last match in the round of 16 takes us to Atlanta where Borussia Dortmund will look to make the quarter final when the Group F winners go up against the Group E runners-up Monterrey in arguably the most intriguing tie of the opening knockout stage.

Dortmund have been a bit up and down in this competition but in the main they have been in control but for a crazy outing against the Mamelodi Sundowns where they came out on top in a shootout. We know they have that in their locker but they would much rather have things under control in a knockout game. Their form in this competition took a massive boost on Monday night when Fluminense, the team who finished second to them in the group phase, took care of Inter Milan to make the quarter final. Monterrey did well to qualify for this stage. They held the two big teams in their group with a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan and a 0-0 draw against River Plate and that set them up to win their third match and set up this meeting with Dortmund. I’m already on the German side to win this match having taken them to reach the quarter finals before a ball was kicked and I haven’t changed my mind on them so I’m happy to let that run. In the two matches that Monterrey had an intent to go forward in they had 11 shots against Inter and 18 against Urawa Red Diamonds so they have enough about them to be dangerous here. That makes me think there is juice in the 1.80 on both teams to score here.
