French Open Tennis 2017 – Women’s Semi-Finals Betting Preview

It is ladies semi-finals day at the French Open on Thursday with plenty at stake at Roland Garros. Not only are there places in Saturday’s final on the line but the world number one spot could change hands too on what should be an exciting day in Paris.

Day 11 Recap

In terms of the bets we placed on Wednesday the day couldn’t have gone any better. We had three winners from three bets with Stan Wawrinka winning easily and the two women’s matches both being tight enough to bring the games line in. Unfortunately we did lose the remaining bet from Tuesday as Novak Djokovic crashed out.

Djokovic losing to Dominic Thiem was probably the gain of Rafael Nadal who only had to play 10 games in his quarter final before opponent Pablo Carreno Busta was forced to retire. Andy Murray, Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova were the others to come through.

Jelena Ostapenko vs Timea Bacsinszky

It is fair to say that few would have expected these two to be competing in the first semi-final but both are here on merit and they should deliver an intriguing contest in what is their first career meeting.

Jelena Ostapenko has been creaming the ball so well throughout this tournament while Timea Bacsinszky has looked so comfortable in these surrounding with plenty of quality and at times brutal hitting in making her way through to this semi-final.

We have to factor in the occasion here but if it doesn’t get the better of either of them then I’m expecting to see a lot of tennis in the match, the majority of it should be really good stuff too. The games line in this match is 21.5 which looks well within range given the winners these two should share out.

Simona Halep vs Karolina Pliskova

The pick of the two semi-finals is this one between former Grand Slam finalists Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova. Both women will see the opportunity to win their maiden Grand Slam title while the Czech star is playing for slightly more than that.

Pliskova will move to number one in the WTA rankings should she win this match so she certainly won’t lack for motivation. Halep has been strong in her quest of wanting to win major titles so I’m expecting a tussle of extraordinary potential here I have to say.

I like the clash in styles here too. We have the big hitting, huge serving power of Pliskova against the lightning fast, defensively strong Halep so this really should be a great semi-final. I don’t see this being one-sided in the slightest so I think a 4.5 game handicap is a shade too high in Pliskova’s favour.
