German Darts Grand Prix 2022 – Last 16 Tips and Betting Preview

The German Darts Grand Prix finishes on Monday when the 16 players who remain in the competition will play down to just one over what is always a busy conclusion to any event on the European Tour.

As always the last 16 will take place in the afternoon with the quarter finals through to the final in the evening session. Time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the latter stages but both our outright bets are still in so hopefully they can make it through to there and give us some interest. We’ll take a look at the last 16 though.

First Four Matches

The afternoon actually begins with one of our outright bets in Keane Barry. He was the beneficiary of a bye on Sunday which was nice both for him and us and his reward for that is a clash with Martin Lukeman. When they are done Ryan Searle will look to make progress when he takes on one of two German players left in the competition. He meets Martin Schindler. Scott Waites saw off Peter Wright on Sunday and his reward for doing so is a date with Damon Heta who ended the hopes of Raymond van Barneveld on Sunday. We go to the break with Jonny Clayton taking on the other German player in Max Hopp.

Later Four Matches

Two men who probably wouldn’t have been expected to make it through to this stage open up the second part of the afternoon when Madars Razma takes on Keegan Brown before the tie of the round takes place as Michael van Gerwen meets Rob Cross. The penultimate match of the afternoon sees Michael Smith facing off against Luke Humphries and the session ends with an all-Dutch battle as Wesley Plaisier will look to follow up his win over Joe Cullen on Sunday when he takes on our other pre-tournament outright pick in Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Betting

I’m a little surprised that Madars Razma is the outsider in his match against Keegan Brown. I say that because Razma has made the final of a Players Championship event this season and he also has wins over Gerwyn Price, Mensur Suljovic and Jonny Clayton among others this term. He has also beaten Kim Huybrechts and Jose de Sousa this weekend already and looks in decent form. Brown is a good player but he has slumped down the rankings since the pandemic as his work life has taken a hold of him a little more.

To be fair he had a good win over Callan Rydz on Sunday but Brown hasn’t really done a whole lot this season. Their stats at the Players Championship events this season are very similar but it is Razma who has been getting the majority of the results and in good company too. His checkout stats this weekend have been very positive and with Brown probably needing this more than the Latvian he might feel the pressure a little more. I like Razma at even money here.
