Day two of the German Darts Grand Prix takes place across two sessions in Munich on Sunday as the fourth European Tour event of the season continues with some tasty looking action with spots at finals day on the line.
With this being the middle day of the tournament it is the one where the seeded players enter the competition which always elevates the profile of the event so we should get to see some extremely good darts thrown.
Afternoon Session
We begin the day with two European players battling it out when Danny Noppert goes up against Madars Razma for a shot at the last 16. When they are done Damon Heta will look to avoid being a seed who is dumped out in his opening match when he meets Ryan Joyce. You would say that the seeds are in danger in the two matches that take us to the halfway point of the afternoon when Andrew Gilding meets the impressive Gian van Veen while Ryan Searle faces a Cameron Menzies who has just given up plumbing to give darts a real good go.
The second half of the afternoon begins with one of the ties of the round as Josh Rock takes on Scott Williams in what should be an entertaining clash. Rob Cross will follow them onto the stage when he faces the only home player involved in the afternoon in Ricardo Pietreczko. When they are done Michael Smith will look to reach the last 16 when he meets Krzysztof Ratajski before the session concludes with Joe Cullen looking to take advantage of being a seed this weekend when he meets Mickey Mansell.

Evening Session
James Wade is the seeded player who gets the evening underway. He takes on the Dutch qualifier Niels Zonneveld for a place in the last 16 before the tie of the round takes place when Gerwyn Price faces off against the Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld. Another Dutchman follows on from them when Dirk van Duijvenbode is on the stage once again as he faces Dave Chisnall before Michael van Gerwen will look to find some form again when Kim Huybrechts opposes him.
It is the world champion Luke Littler who begins the second half of the evening session. The current Premier League table topper meets Cam Crabtree in his opening match of the weekend. When they are done the World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker will be on stage to face off against Peter Wright with the last two matches seeing Jonny Clayton taking on the German number one Martin Schindler before we conclude the Easter Sunday action with Ross Smith going up against Jermaine Wattimena.
Betting
I’m a little surprised that you can get 4/5 about Mike De Decker in his match against Peter Wright on Sunday evening. De Decker has won the last three meetings between the two men and is a player on the up whereas the Scot is very much on the downturn in his career. That isn’t to say that Wright won’t produce the odd good performance and put a tournament run together but consistency is probably beyond him and three defeats in a row coming in is both a concern but not really a surprise.
De Decker is having a decent enough season. The Belgian made the final of the opening European Tour event this season and he has made two semis on the floor in this campaign too and he has an upside to his game which Wright might not be able to reach here. De Decker has played a match on the stage this weekend too which can never be a disadvantage and while he missed a few doubles, his scoring power earned him the right to miss them. Similar could happen here so I’ll take De Decker to win a fourth straight match against Wright.
