German Darts Grand Prix 2025 – Last 16 Tips and Betting Preview

The final day of the German Darts Grand Prix takes place in Munich on Monday where will find out who will win the fourth European Tour event of the campaign and put themselves in with a great chance of reaching the European Championship.

Six seeds bit the dust on Sunday so we have a bit of a wide open draw with all 16 players feeling like they can go the distance on the final day. The last 16 takes place in the afternoon which we will preview here but unfortunately time restrictions will deny us the chance to get involved in the evening.

First Four Matches

The third round begins with arguably the tie of the round as the Premier League star Gerwyn Price takes on a Josh Rock who is more than capable of winning this tournament from here. When they are done Rob Cross will continue his quest for another European Tour title when he meets Krzysztof Ratajski before two unseeded players battle it out for a spot in the quarter final when Ryan Joyce takes on Niels Zonneveld. We head to the halfway point of the afternoon with Michael van Gerwen going up against Ryan Searle in another cracking looking match.

Later Four Matches

The second half of the afternoon gets underway with two men who have enjoyed themselves on the European Tour over the last couple of seasons when Dave Chisnall meets Ross Smith before the one remaining home player in the tournament looks to make progress when Martin Schindler faces Gian van Veen. Peter Wright saw off the World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker in the Sunday action and his reward is a meeting with Madars Razma before the last 16 of the competition is concluded with the world champion Luke Littler going up against Joe Cullen.

Betting

Michael van Gerwen played well on Sunday evening but he still isn’t right for me and I wonder if he could be vulnerable against a Ryan Searle who has an excellent recent record against him. Van Gerwen averaged over a ton in a deciding leg win over Kim Huybrechts but he has been so inconsistent in recent times that it can almost be forgotten how he played on Sunday. Obviously he has been struggling with injury and I would probably have taken him on with most players here.

As it goes Searle has won five of their last six meetings so there is something about playing the Dutchman which sits well with ‘Heavy Metal’. I suspect it is because he is the outsider in those contests and he is again here so he can relax and doesn’t feel that favourites expectation. Searle has already won a tournament this year so we know he is going well and he has gone deep in many European Tour events and if van Gerwen struggles to replicate the form of Sunday, which I believe is likely, then Searle is overpriced here.

Tips

Back R.Searle to beat M.van Gerwen for a 3/10 stake at 2.38 with William Hill
