Gold Cup 2019 Football – Group D Final Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The group stage of the Gold Cup comes to an end on Wednesday evening when Group D plays its final fixtures and after the surprise qualification of Curacao on Tuesday night, there is a huge incentive in the second of the two games to come.

USA and Panama will meet in the second match of the night for the first to win the group and face Curacao while Jamaica await the team who fail to win, or Panama if it is a draw. The Caribbean pair of Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana meet in the first game.

Trinidad & Tobago vs Guyana (23.30)

The opening match of the night will have no bearing on the competition as both Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana know they will be departing the event once this one has concluded but there is an incentive for both to leave on a winning note.

Trinidad & Tobago are rated the highest of these two sides but I haven’t been impressed with them one bit defensively. Although they haven’t scored a goal in the competition yet I do think there is enough about them in forward areas though so I wouldn’t be surprised if they see off a spirited Guyana side but I can’t trust that defence. I don’t really want a team as unestablished as Guyana carrying my money so I’m going to take the goals here. The line is over 2.75 but there is no point in either sitting back here. Both defences have shown their vulnerabilities in this tournament and I expect to see them again here. I’ll take over 2.75 goals in this one.

USA vs Panama (02.00)

The second match of the night is the really big one as we find out who wins Group D and takes on Curacao in the quarter final and who is runner up and gets on a collision course with Jamaica in the last eight.

USA head into the contest knowing that they only need to avoid defeat to land that plum tie while Panama have to win if they are going to top the group. I’ve kind of opposed USA throughout the tournament and while they’ve won two matches quite convincingly I remain unconvinced by them and will be interested to see how they go here. There were signs that Panama had improved from their first match to the second and if they keep that momentum going they can give America a game here. I’m not going to bet on the match but I wouldn’t be surprised if Panama take something from it.
