Horse Racing – Ayr Wednesday 5th August Tips and Betting Preview

Racing continues in the UK on Wednesday and while we have to wait another couple of weeks for the next really big meeting, there is plenty to keep us going between now and then, even if the quality isn’t what we would appreciate the most.

They race at Ayr, Lingfield and Newton Abbot in the UK on Wednesday and there are Irish cards at Wexford and Sligo. After having a good look through the cards we have come up with one bet from the Scottish track Ayr.

Preview

11 runners go to post for this Class 5 handicap over 7 furlongs.  In what looks an average heat, the 2 heading the market are 3 year olds who get a handy weight for age allowance.  Proclaimer is still unexposed & won a nursery at the end of last year before a decent reappearance when 3rd at Haydock.  He goes off the same mark here.  Dandy’s Angel has had mediocre form until a close 5th over course & distance on her most recent run.  She’s 1lb lower in mark but is up in grade.

Betting

With a lack of serious contenders, the one I’m sweet on is top weight How Bizarre.  He’s been in really good form this summer having won at Musselburgh 3 starts ago off 3lbs lower before finishing 3rd at Beverley & 4th at York.  That latest run was in a big field of 17 in a Class 4 where the winner, Prompting, has since gone on to land the Class 2 Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood.  He’s a winner of 4 of this 29 turf starts off marks of 72, 68, 70 and 68, so today’s mark of 71 is workable.  He’s also reunited with Danny Tudhope who has an impressive record of 2 wins & 2 3rd’s from 5 rides.   In this field, it’s hard to see him out of the money & he looks a solid each way bet to nothing.

Tips

VOID – Back How Bizarre (e/w) for a 1.5/10 stake at 6.00 Bet365 BOG (⅕ odds 1-3)
