Horse Racing – Sunday 15th March Meetings Tips and Betting Preview

2.10 Limerick

Preview

On a generally poor day’s racing, this is a decent Grade 3 novice hurdle for mares.  Heavy ground and a trip of 2 miles 6 furlongs will certainly test the stamina of the 10 runners.

Favourite

Larquebuse narrowly heads the market and she’ll be tough to beat if reproducing the form of her last run.  She’s won 2 of her 4 starts, both wins coming with today’s jockey on top. 2 starts ago, she was beaten by one of her rivals here in Well Set Up but their respective fortunes have gone in opposite directions since.  Our selection won a novice hurdle over 2 furlongs shorter last time out and really couldn’t have done it any easier. She missed Cheltenham for this and, with her yard in very good form, Davy Russell aboard again, the testing ground and the step up in trip very much in her favour, she’ll be a tough nut to crack.

Contenders

Well Set Up cannot be dismissed as she’s also finished behind the Albert Bartlett 3rd Fury Road but she disappointed last time when a long way back in 5th in this grade.  Scarlett And Dove is the main market rival of our selection having won a maiden hurdle last time. She did it well but wasn’t visually overly impressive and has a big step up in trip to overcome.  Her run before was over a longer distance and she didn’t look to have stayed the trip.

Bay Ambition is a good handicapper but needs more, and Drury would be a big danger on her form earlier in the campaign but has lots to improve on her last 2 runs.  None of the bigger prices appeal so we’ll stick with the favourite, with the main challenge likely to come from Well Set Up and Bay Ambition.
