Hungarian Darts Trophy 2025 – Day 2 Tips and Betting Preview

The second day of action at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest on Saturday sees the seeded players entering the tournament for the first time as 32 men battle it out for a place in the final day of the competition on Sunday.

We saw some wonderful darts on Friday but with the big part of the season now in full swing you get the feeling that the standard is only going to go up from here and that promises a fantastic day of arrers in the Hungarian capital.

Afternoon Session

Usually the afternoon sessions on the Saturday of the European Tour take some time to fire into life but that might not be the case here as we open up with the German number one Martin Schindler taking on Ryan Joyce. When they are done Ross Smith will be back on a European stage when he takes on the mercurial Cameron Menzies. Danny Noppert will be the third seed on show on Saturday. He goes up against Robert Owen before we reach the halfway point of the session with Chris Dobey facing Darren Beveridge.

The remainder of the afternoon looks just as tasty too as Rob Cross meets Daryl Gurney in a really tasty clash between two men who know how to go deep in tournaments. James Wade is another who ticks that box and he’ll look to make progress when he goes up against Luke Woodhouse. Peter Wright will then take to the stage in the penultimate match of the session before we round off the afternoon with Dave Chisnall looking to find some form at the expense of Raymond van Barneveld.

Evening Session

The afternoon session is good but the evening one is absolutely stacked and it starts with a possible cracker between the Australian number one Damon Heta and the rising German star Niko Springer who saw off Gian van Veen on Friday. When they are done Gerwyn Price will launch his campaign when he takes on the Dutch ace Richard Veenstra before Michael van Gerwen looks to continue his winning run when he takes on Matthew Dennant before the world champion Luke Littler takes to the stage to face Joe Cullen.

The tie of the round begins the second part of the evening when the world number one and top seed Luke Humphries faces off against Nathan Aspinall before the ever popular Stephen Bunting starts his tournament. The French star Thibault Tricole will be his first opponent. Josh Rock is throwing some of the best darts of his life and he is on show in the penultimate match of the night when he meets Ricardo Pietreczko before the World Grand Prix holder Mike De Decker closes out the show when he takes on Tom Bissell.

Betting

It should be a really good Saturday for us to watch and enjoy but there isn’t a lot which is standing out to me in terms of value. A lot of the matches the prices look about right but there is one that I’ll go with and that comes in the form of Kim Huybrechts to beat Peter Wright. Wright continues to flatter to deceive and he now goes into this match off the back of just two wins in his last nine matches and they have both comes against players ranked outside the top 100 in the world.

You couldn’t say that Huybrechts has been flowing like he has in the past but he has won six of his last nine matches so that is much better form than what Wright is offering up. Although they are historical battles, Huybrechts has also won five of their last six matches but I don’t mind using that as a guide because Wright is definitely nowhere near as good as he was when those games took place. Add into the conversation that Huybrechts has had a match on the stage to know what it is all about and he rates as a solid punt at 6/5.
