The International League T20 is back in Abu Dhabi on Monday when the ILT20 continues with one match as the bottom two in the table meet when the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders go up against the Dubai Capitals in a key match.
We are entering the final quarter of the regular season so this is a big match, especially for the Capitals who have the more realistic chance of making it into the final stages of the event but need to win here to keep those hopes realistic ones.
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders
While their last two performances have been better than those that went before it, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders still haven’t won a match in this competition and with three games left of their regular season they are already all but eliminated from the tournament. Technically they could win out and reach seven points but they would need the Sharjah Warriors to lose their last three matches and a huge net run rate differential to be overcome too. It isn’t going to happen.
The batting has started to come to the party for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. It is no surprise that has happened with them sacking West Indians down the order where they can’t chew up deliveries and go nowhere but if they are going to win matches then they need their bowlers to deliver the goods. They have a couple of banker bowlers but teams are getting away from the other ones at the minute and that is what they need to guard against.
Dubai Capitals
After an emphatic start to the season against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, the Dubai Capitals have won just one of five completed matches since and really need to get back to winning ways if they are going to be around when the prizes are fought for. They need at least two wins because of their net run rate but it might be that they need to win out from here to make the top four. Whichever way they look at it, losing to the worst team in the tournament is not advisable.
After beginning the season in positive fashion with the bat, the runs have dried up a little in recent times. Whether the departure of Joe Root is a factor in that only they will know but suddenly there is a lack of a top four batter in really good form. If they can find some form with the bat then there is no reason why they can’t win matches because the addition of Adam Zampa gives them something extra with the ball, especially as these pitches begin to tire.

Key Players
Paul Stirling has contributed with the bat when he has been available for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders but sometimes his innings have come a little slowly than we might expect from him. He has the licence to swing the bat here.
Adam Zampa recently joined the Dubai Capitals and took three wickets in his first bowling spell in the tournament. In these conditions he could be very hard to get away and if he can control the power hitters in the middle order it will go a long way to sealing a big win for Dubai.
Betting
I got done with the sixes on Sunday in ridiculous fashion but I’m prepared to try them again for a few reasons here. The first one and probably the main one is that there hasn’t been a match on this Abu Dhabi ground for six days so the pitches have had time to get life back into them. This has been a very high scoring venue this season. Four of the 12 innings have had scores of 200 or more here this term and another four have been 169 or higher.
The sixes line for this match is 10.5 and on four occasions that has been covered in a single innings on this ground this season. It has also been covered in five of the six matches here and I’m not surprised because the boundaries into the key hitting areas are anything but big on this ground. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders can play with some freedom with their campaign all but over while Dubai just hit a decent Desert Vipers attack for eight sixes. There is more than enough in these two teams to get this line covered on this ground.
