India vs England – 3rd T20 Tips and Betting Preview

The T20 series between India and England has reached the middle match of the five. That takes place in Rajkot where the home side have the first of three chances to wrap up the series with two matches to spare.

That will happen if they come out on top in this match but the onus is very much on England to win the match and keep the series alive. Defeat will mean they go down with two matches left but they go to Pune still alive if they win.

India

India have cruised to victory in one of the matches in this series and snuck over the line in the other one but either way they are going well and there is probably still more to come from them. You would imagine that would have been the case anyway when you consider that they have spent the last couple of months playing the red ball stuff. Conditions have certainly helped India so far in the series but they still had to take full advantage and they have done.

Both wins have been set up by their bowlers. They only just got home in the second match of the series but they were still chasing a perfectly gettable score which their batters nearly made a mess of. Spin has been crucial for India and that isn’t something that is expected to change here so if their top order can come to the party then you would imagine India are going to go very close to getting the series won right here with two games still to play.

England

I think it is fair to say that England were always going to build into this series when you consider that with all the franchise cricket going on there was no chance for them to play a warm up match and also they have a new coach who will be looking to install his thinking on this side. England did improve from the first match into the second one but they couldn’t quite pick up the big wicket they needed which would have shut out the Chennai showdown.

You would think that England will continue to improve in this series and if they do then we can expect to see them offer a lot more with the bat. They haven’t put up a complete batting performance at the minute. Their two efforts so far have been built on a solid Jos Buttler innings but they will need others to come to the party around him if they are going to put up the sort of score which could put real pressure on India. Their bowling hasn’t been too bad so far which is a positive.

Team News

India are forced into one change with Nitish Kumar Reddy out injured. It is expected that they will bring Shivam Dube into the middle order in his place. Ramandeep Singh is another who is waiting for a game here.

England have already named an unchanged XI for this match. Jacob Bethell has recovered from the illness which kept him out of the previous match but Jamie Smith keeps his place in the side. It means that Jofra Archer is fit for a third start in as many matches.

Betting

Now that England look to be getting up to speed I think the sixes have to be attacked here. There have been five T20 matches on this ground in terms of international ones and in three of those the first innings score has been in excess of 195 so this is a ground where the runs can flow. It isn’t the biggest ground in the world either so the sixes can also flow. We know that both teams are full of players who can clear any rope let alone these ones.

Depending on where you bet you can get either 15.5 sixes as a line or 17.5 and obviously for the over I will take the lower one. So far in this series we have had 12 sixes in a match where 132 was the first innings score and then 15 in the last match on a bit of a sluggish Chennai wicket. This pitch is expected to be much better and with more batters having had time to adjust to conditions I would expect us to get the extra six that we need.
