Indian Premier League 2017 – Delhi Daredevils vs Mumbai Indians Betting Preview

The second half of the double header in the Indian Premier League is yet another massive match as the Delhi Daredevils host the league leaders Mumbai Indians. Delhi are chasing hard for a spot in the playoffs while Mumbai can all but seal their spot in the end of season party with a win here.

Delhi head into the match in sixth position but they can still make the top four from there. Whether they seal it here or are forced to wait another match the Indians are expected to make it into the final four.

Delhi Daredevils

After a couple of weeks where they couldn’t get out of a losing slump the Delhi Daredevils have suddenly come to life. In that run of losses they were timid and almost overthinking everything and the change in approach was both surprising and necessary and since it came they haven’t really looked back.

There seems to be a real intent to go after everything now whether that is with the bat or with the ball. They are aggressive and on the front foot and they are looking so much better for it. Their young stars suddenly have the freedom to express themselves and their experienced players are riding the back of that.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians have been battling with the Kolkata Knight Riders for top spot almost throughout the competition and it is them who hold the advantage heading into this weekend. They can open up a four point lead on their rivals should they win this match and that should be a big enough incentive.

The reason why the Indians are at the top of the table is because they haven’t shown a weakness this season. They have been solid throughout the tournament with the ball with plans not only clearly set but bowled to every time and with the bat they have batted as a collective unit which is something others haven’t done.

Team News

Delhi Daredevils have Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris available should they wish to use them. Zaheer Khan hinted in the last game that he could be fit but who he would come in for isn’t obvious.

Mumbai Indians have largely had a settled side for this tournament. They will need to decide whether to go with Lasith Malinga or Mitchell Johnson as an overseas player. Krunal Pandya’s fitness needs to be determined too.

Betting

It hasn’t been a profitable process in this Indian Premier League so far but I’m taking on the Mumbai Indians with the home side here. Delhi Daredevils have been something of a formidable force on their home patch this season.

They have won four of the five matches to have been played here and lost the other in the final couple of balls having been in a position they would have converted to a win nine of out ten times. All of a sudden they are playing aggressively and looking good for it and they can beat a Mumbai side for whom too many of their batsmen get in and get out without going on for my liking.
