Indian Premier League 2017 – Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Betting Preview

The weekend is over which means we are down to one match in the Indian Premier League on Monday and it comes from Indore where the Kings XI Punjab will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in a match which will see the winners join the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the top of the table.

Kings XI Punjab

These are heady days for the Punjab outfit. After two seasons of stinking the league out they got off to a winning start over the weekend with a win against the Rising Pune Supergiant and now they will be setting their sights on another here to well and truly banish the disappointment of the last couple of campaigns.

Although there were few megastars in their bowling attack against Pune it was impressive how the Kings XI bowled up front and although they were for a few at the back end of their bowling innings it was nothing that Glenn Maxwell and David Miller couldn’t handle when it came to batting in the second innings.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

After an opening day defeat to the aforementioned Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Royal Challengers bounced back nicely on Saturday to see off the Delhi Daredevils. If you say they were at their best in that match you would be kidding yourself but sometimes it isn’t a bad thing to win when you are not at your best.

We all know what Bangalore offer with the bat. So many column inches and messages have been written about their much vaunted batting line up but we don’t know quite so clearly how well they are going to go with the ball and it is that which offers the intrigue heading into their matches at the present time.

Team News

Kings XI Punjab probably won’t want to make too many changes to their side although there is talk that Eoin Morgan could come in for Hashim Amla. Given that would mean totally changing their batting order that might not happen in the cold light of day.

AB de Villiers is giving off the impression he will be fit to feature in this one in which case Billy Stanlake could be the man to miss out even though he bowled well last time out.

Betting

I think we’ve seen already that both sides are a great deal more reliable with the bat in their hands than the ball and so that makes betting on the match very difficult until we know the outcome of the toss as has been the case in a few matches recently.

As with those matches I’m sent to the side markets for a bet on the game with the sixes offering particular appeal. I mentioned ahead of the Kings XI’s first match how high the potential for sixes are here and we saw 16 in their match against Rising Pune and with the artillery this Bangalore side carry around with them I’m expecting to see even more here. 13.5 looks a perfectly attractive line so I’m on the overs in this one.

Axar Patel came in a four on Saturday and went well enough with 24 before he was outwitted by Imran Tahir but if he was to stroll to the wicket in the same position in this match the 22/1 on him top scoring for the Kings XI Punjab would be a crazy price. We’ve seen in the past that he can bat. He has a first-class average of 48.45 so he is no stranger to scoring well. If he bats high again it has to be worth paying to see if he can top score.
