Indian Premier League 2017 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Betting Preview

We are back to double headers in the Indian Premier League throughout Easter and they begin with two matches on Good Friday. The first of those two games has the potential to be a powerful classic as the Royal Challengers Bangalore play host to the Mumbai Indians.

It has been a dodgy start to the season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and they will be looking to even up their ledger with a win here while the Mumbai Indians have just knocked off the champions and will be out for another big scalp.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

They have one win from their three matches but that could and probably should have been three defeats in a row because the Delhi Daredevils were well on course to beat them before a collapse came out of nowhere. Injuries haven’t helped the Royal Challengers but they don’t seem to have learnt from previous seasons.

It doesn’t seem to matter what they do the Royal Challengers just can’t restrict sides with the ball. They signed Tymal Mills and while he has performed admirably teams have largely sat on him knowing they can get stuck into the bowling at the other end and make up the runs he might save. This has been a recurring thing for a long while.

Mumbai Indians

In complete contrast to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians have two wins from three and could easily have won all three of their matches had it not been for a couple of costly dropped catches in their first match against the Rising Pune Supergiant. Since that match they have been almost unstoppable.

We saw the best of the Mumbai Indians in the last game. They restricted the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the powerplay and at the death and then got stuck into their opponents in a one-sided run chase. Historically the Indians have begun their campaign slowly so the fact they have hit the ground running could be a bad sign for the rest.

Team News

Virat Kohli is set to return to the Royal Challengers Bangalore line up in this match while Chris Gayle is expected to be included too. It looks like Billy Stanlake will sit out for Gayle.

Mumbai Indians may well be unchanged unless they decide the run concession of Mitchell McClenaghan in the tournament so far is too high to chance. If that is the case Mitchell Johnson could get a run out.

Betting

This should be a fantastic way to start the day. These two can lay claims to being the two most powerful sides in the competition and on a deck which is ideal for batting the fireworks shouldn’t take long to ignite here.

As with most matches at the Chinnaswamy it is impossible to bet on the match outcome prior to knowing the result of the toss so I’ll head for the sixes betting where the line looks high at 15. There were 17 sixes between the two here last year in a relatively low scoring match which saw 151 play 153 and where Gayle and Kohli only scored 12 between them. You would think they would go better here and as a result the sixes should come more regularly. I’ll go overs on that line.

I’m also going to take a stab at Nitish Rana to hit the most sixes in the match. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are the favourites but they are going to have to negotiate Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah at some point whereas Rana is going to have free rein to get stuck into whoever bowls at him. Rana has seven sixes in the tournament to date which is the most for a Mumbai batsman so at 12/1 he’s worth chancing.

Tips

Back 15 or more sixes for a 4/10 stake at 1.73 with Bet365

Back N.Rana to hit the most sixes for a 1/10 stake at 13.00 with Bet365
