Indian Premier League – Delhi Daredevils vs Kolkata Knight Riders Betting Preview

As with all weekends in this Indian Premier League season there is a double header of action on Saturday with the first of the two matches coming from Delhi as the Delhi Daredevils welcome the highflying Kolkata Knight Riders to the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Both sides are going well this season and will fancy their chances of making the playoffs. Those chances will be significantly enhanced with a win for either here.

Delhi Daredevils

After a tame and timid opening defeat to the Knight Riders, Delhi had recovered with three wins on the trot only to lose a classic to the Gujarat Lions earlier in the week.

If there is one area of concern for Delhi it is with the bat. They have some quality but if Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy don’t deliver you wonder where their runs will come from. Chris Morris was spectacular against the Lions but there is only so many times he can perform like that.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata have had six matches in the competition so far. They have won four of them and lost twice with both defeats coming against Mumbai Indians which must annoy the Eden Gardens folk somewhat.

The Knight Riders’ batting looks in decent order but their bowling attack is just starting to be carted a little more than they would like so they will be out to bowl much better here and allay those concerns straight away.

Team news

Delhi Daredevils look to have settled on a good combination but then completely changed their side for no apparent reason against Gujarat. Shreyas Iyer was surprisingly dropped and he could come back into the team here.

Kolkata Knight Riders brought in Jaydev Unadkat for their last match but it was fair to say that move didn’t really work so he is vulnerable here while R Sathish was taken the cleaners against Mumbai and might be due a spell on the sidelines.

Feroz Shah Kotla

This is the third match of the tournament on this ground. The first one was a low scoring non-event but the last two have been fairly high scoring and full of drama and it is that sort of match I’m expecting here.

The boundaries are pretty short here as Chris Morris showed us earlier in the week and the outfield is quick and with both bowling attacks coming into this match off the back of being carted both batting line ups should be able to make hay here.

Betting

I’m not sure how I fancy this one to go. I guess based on the reverse fixture between the two you’d have to go with Kolkata but after getting a bit of a working over by Mumbai earlier in the week I can’t have as much confidence as I would need to take them at their current price so with that in mind this is another trip to the side markets for me.

The side market I particularly like here is the boundaries where the line looks quite low at 34.5. Admittedly when these two played in Kolkata, Delhi were rolled over for 98 with Kolkata chasing their total down with overs to spare but even in that match there were 26 boundaries and I don’t expect the scoring to be anything like as low here.

The previous match here had 41 boundaries in it and recent matches between these two have been littered with boundaries so the potential is there and given how low the line looks I’m happy to take the overs here.
