There is just the one match in the Indian Premier League on Monday afternoon and it sees the Delhi Daredevils on the road once again. This time they make the journey to Pune to take on the Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai go into the match off the back of a defeat over the weekend so they will be looking to bounce back at the earliest opportunity while Delhi will be looking to build on the positivity of a victory in their last outing.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai went into the weekend on top of the pile but now they face the prospect of winning here to move level with the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the summit of the table. Although their defeat to the Mumbai Indians was a surprising one on form the Super Kings can’t say it wasn’t coming because they were never going to be able to rely on their batting line up forever.
As it was an ill-timed injury to a bowler probably cost them dearly so they can be allowed some slack but if they don’t sort out of the amount of runs they are leaking it is hard to see them winning the title, especially come the postseason when it is do or die. They certainly have the quality in their attack but they need to up their game.
Delhi Daredevils
After a bit of a turbulent week where a change in captain came about, things ended well for the Delhi Daredevils when they saw off the Kolkata Knight Riders in fine style on Friday and they will be looking to back that up when they make the journey to Pune for this one. They know they need a series of consecutive wins to make the playoffs but a victory here will at least see them latch on to the chasing pack.
There have just been one or two signs in recent matches that their bowling attack is warming to the task and that could be a danger for the rest of the teams in the competition. I say that because by and large their batting has been fine for much of the campaign. It may even continue to improve with the out of form Gautam Gambhir on the sides.
Team News
Chennai Super Kings bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of action for two weeks with the injury he sustained in the previous match. That could open the door to the likes of Lungi Ndidi, Mark Wood or even an IPL debut for David Willey.
Delhi Daredevils may well be unchanged after such a dominant performance on Friday which means that Gautam Gambhir will remain watching on. If they do make a switch it could see Jason Roy coming back into the side. Chris Morris has been ruled out of the rest of the competition.

Betting
I quite like the Delhi Daredevils here. I say that because we often see that bowlers win T20 matches and I just don’t see this Chennai Super Kings bowling attack offering the necessary control over the course of the 20 overs.
There has been a definite improvement in the bowling attack of the Daredevils since Liam Plunkett came into the fold and with he, Trent Boult and now Amit Mishra bowling well there is a lot more to like about the Delhi are going. I guess we should have expected a delay to the best form of Delhi given they have a new coach and a new captain this season. If they continue to improve they may well have too much for the Super Kings here.
