IPL 2018 – Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Betting Preview

The second match in the double header in the Indian Premier League on Sunday might just be the biggest match of the entire weekend as the Mumbai Indians play host to Rajasthan Royals in a match which will have a huge implication on the race for the top four.

Mumbai will move up to third with a win in this match while Rajasthan will move level with Kings XI and Kolkata on 12 points should they manage to find a victory so there is a huge amount at stake in this one.

Mumbai Indians

We can officially state that the Mumbai Indians are doing what they always do. They started the campaign slowly as they so often do but they are beginning to fire on all cylinders now and it would surprise nobody if they go on and qualify for the playoffs and potentially even win them. If they are to do that they need a minimum of two wins from their last three outings.

The batting took a while to get going this season but it is firing up nicely while their death bowling is coming to the party as well. With the options that they have with the bat and the ball they look nicely balanced which is almost part of the job in this format. Their net run rate is the best in the tournament which could be significant.

Rajasthan Royals

There had been no consistency at all for the Rajasthan Royals early in the campaign but since they have been playing do or die cricket they have picked up two wins in a row and if they can add a third to that here then their chances of making the postseason would be strong. Their net run rate isn’t as good as others so they might need to win their last three to extend their campaign.

The key to their revival has been obvious. The move to push Jos Buttler up the order has worked out perfectly and it has given the rest of the batting line up the confidence to play the cameos they need below him. Suddenly with scores to defend their bowling is cranking it up a notch too and we are beginning to see the Rajasthan we expected to see.

Team News

On the face of it there would appear no reason why the Mumbai Indians would change a winning side although there will be an instinct to recall Kieron Pollard at some point purely because of the fear factor he brings.

Rajasthan Royals have been making subtle changes to their batting line up throughout the competition but it appears as settled now as it ever has so they might well be unchanged too.

Betting

As ever with matches at the Wankhede I’m not rushing in on the match outcome here. The ground is just too hard to defend to be on the wrong side of the draw with a decent punt so I’ll head to the side markets for my bet in this match.

That market is the boundaries which are very accessible on this ground. The ball flies a little further here anyway but with a decent batting wicket and lightning fast outfield I’m expecting the boundaries to be peppered once again. The line here is 43.5 which looks a touch low here especially with the power batsmen on show. I fancy the over on this line.

Tips

WON – Back Over 43.5 boundaries for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with William Hill
