IPL 2018 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Betting Preview

We are back to one match per day in the Indian Premier League on Monday afternoon and it is a real big one as the table topping Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore who need to win out from here on in.

Bangalore have already suffered six defeats this season and their next one will be one too many so this is a must win fixture for them. The Sunrisers already have seven wins to their name and one more can see them start to prepare for the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

I would imagine the Sunrisers Hyderabad are feeling very confident right now. Not only have they been able to defend three low totals in recent times but their lower order got them over the line in a run chase last time out. When it comes to ways to win the Sunrisers appear to tick just about every box that is going.

They will still win more matches with the ball than the bat but since Alex Hales came into the side and with the form he has shown at the top of the order there is no doubt their batting is improving by the game. That is a combination that is going to be very tough to stop between now and the end of the season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

It is becoming an all too familiar season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. We all know their combinations are all wrong but they are not going to change now so they just have to hope they end up chasing and can ride an AB de Villiers or Virat Kohli masterclass. If they are forced to bat first you tend to fear for their chances.

It might be that being in the last chance saloon raises the performance of everybody but I remember thinking that was a possibility last season and if anything they got worse from here on in. The task for them is to ensure they do not let their standards drop as finishing a season well can be important even if you don’t qualify.

Team News

It would appear that the Sunrisers Hyderabad will go into this match unchanged unless there is a late illness or injury that occurs. If they do make a change and it is with the ball Basil Thampi could come in.

Who knows what Royal Challengers Bangalore will do to their line up to try and turn things around. One thing they won’t be able to do is play Quinton de Kock as he is still out of the country. Moeen Ali is yet to be tried. Now might be the time.

Betting

It is hard not to like the Sunrisers Hyderabad here and in truth we can be thankful that this is must win territory for the Royal Challengers Bangalore because if it wasn’t then the home side may well be a whole lot shorter than what they are.

As it is they are only a shade under evens and with their bowling attack I’m more than happy to get involved. Bangalore are showing no signs of improvement and as I said above if they bat first you don’t fancy them to win at all. Sunrisers have shown they can win batting first or second and that’s enough for me here.
