The second half of the double header in the Indian Premier League on Saturday sees the Delhi Capitals looking to win at home for the first time this season when they go up against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
The Knight Riders have made a fast start to the season and will be looking to extend their early advantage on many teams while the Capitals will be looking to show that they are capable of launching a title challenge.
Delhi Capitals
It looked like we were seeing the start of this Delhi Capitals side really emerging in the opening game when they blasted their way to victory against the Mumbai Indians who have won since, but they kind of reverted back to normal in their second match against the Chennai Super Kings when they failed to adapt to conditions and were found wanting a little as a result.
Clearly using their cricket nous is going to be a big thing for Delhi this season. A few players have highlighted how the square doesn’t look like the road that it was last year so they are going to have to play smart. That can begin with the team selection which has been questionable to say the least so far in the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders
It is two from two for the Kolkata Knight Riders with both their wins to date being high scoring and exciting. They first touched off the Sunrisers Hyderabad and then they bludgeoned their way to victory against the Kings XI Punjab in their last outing. They were both on their home ground though and they travel for the first time this season in this match which adds a different dimension to things.
Often when you have big, powerful finishers down the order like this Kolkata side have, you can be forgiven for easing the scoring early on to make sure it is set up for Andre Russell but there has been none of that from the Knight Riders. You would have to say that this Kolkata side look pretty mean and look to tick all the boxes to launch a title bid.
Team News
Chris Morris has been in India for a few days now and so surely he will replace Keemo Paul both to add batting depth and take the new ball. It can only be a matter of time before Sandeep Lamichhane is let loose as well.
There is no need for the Kolkata Knight Riders to make any changes for this match with the going so well. Unless they have a last minute fitness or injury issue we should see them name an unchanged side for a third match in a row.

Betting
Although the pitch was sluggish and dry in the opening match of the tournament on this ground there were still 36 boundaries hit in a game which was low scoring. One of the reasons why it was low scoring was Delhi’s collapse in the last few overs but if they bat smarter here then I’m expecting the boundaries to flow in this one.
I guess we shouldn’t rule out the prospect for the groundsman to have done some work to get more pace and bounce into the track either and when you throw into the mix that we have a very powerful Kolkata batting line up on show and their bowling attack which has already conceded 180 on a couple of occasions then the boundaries should flow. If they pitch is adequate Delhi posted over 210 against Kolkata here last year. There is enough to suggest we’ll see more than 42.5 boundaries in this one.
