IPL 2019 Eliminator – Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Betting Preview

It is time for knockout cricket in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday as the Delhi Capitals take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the right to go up against the Chennai Super Kings in the second Qualifier on Friday.

Delhi finished four points above Hyderabad in the regular season table but we all know that counts for nothing now and so both teams will be looking to deliver their best performance of the campaign in Visag.

Delhi Capitals

This has been a very good season for the Delhi Capitals for a number of reasons. The biggest thing about them has been that each time they have been asked a question they have had an emphatic answer and they will be able to fall back on that here. When their bowling has slackened and been asked to deliver again it has and the same goes for the batting too.

If there is a concern for this Delhi side it comes in their big game inexperience, or lack of it, so they will need the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Trent Boult and Ishant Sharma to stand up and be counted but on the flip side of that, they have no scars at this stage of the event and their youngsters may flourish with the freedom of that burden not being on them.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Although they finished below the Delhi Capitals this term, the pressure is firmly on the Sunrisers Hyderabad here and it will be interesting to see how they cope in this match. We have to accept that they have limped into the play-offs, and they were always going to do that given the amazing impact that Jonny Bairstow and Dave Warner had on the tournament.

Sunrisers have won just one of their last five matches and need to overturn that form to win three on the bounce if they are to win the tournament. If they are going to do that then their bowlers need to come to the party and deliver because clearly they are weakened with the bat even allowing for the fact that one or two batsmen are starting to find some form.

Team News

There is no Kagiso Rabada for the Delhi Capitals but their success in this tournament has been built on a consistent formation in their side. They have rotated bowlers but you would expect them to be at their best personnel wise here.

Sunrisers Hyderabad remain without Dave Warner and Jonny Bairstow so Martin Guptill is likely to be a key man. Shakib-al-Hasan is another player who has left for international duty now so the Afghan pair Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi should both play.

Betting

I think Delhi Capitals will win this match but I’m on them outright and this is knockout cricket and the toss could have a big impact on proceedings so rather than back them to win the contest I will go with them in a different market, which is the one to hit the most sixes where I’m extremely surprised that they are odds against.

Only one man left in this Sunrisers squad has hit more than six sixes in the tournament and some of those who haven’t reached that number had their totals padded by their game in Bangalore recently. Take Warner and Bairstow out and this isn’t a big hitting Sunrisers side. Delhi have four men with seven or more sixes and a couple of other big hitters who haven’t delivered the goods yet but who easily could here. Delhi have won 4-2 in the sixes battle in both regular season meetings. They can complete the hat-trick here.
