IPL 2019 – Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals Betting Preview

We go back to Jaipur for the Indian Premier League match on Monday as the Rajasthan Royals look to keep their season alive from a competitive standpoint when they take on the Delhi Capitals in another big game in the competition.

Rajasthan Royals go into the match knowing that they need to win out if they are to make it into the postseason for the second season in a row but there are no such concerns for Delhi. Two wins from their last four matches will see them hanging around beyond the regular season.

Rajasthan Royals

With the pressure on them in their previous match, a lot of credit has to be given to the Rajasthan Royals for holding their nerve and getting the job done despite having a couple of big players missing. That kept their season alive and they know that needs to be the catalyst to two weeks of pristine form if they are to have any chance of regaining the title later in the piece.

If the Royals are going to launch any kind of consistency then they need to address their two weakness. They have been far too expensive as a bowling unit and they get bogged down by spin in nearly every match. Even if they only find a way to rotate the strike when the spin is on and set up a platform it would give them a much stronger chance of winning regularly.

Delhi Capitals

What I’ve liked about this Delhi Capitals side this season has been their ability to address their shortfalls and still come out on top. Given that there are a lot of youngsters in their side that is a massive plus on the coaching staff, the senior players and indeed those young men who have taken on board what they have been told and found a way to flourish.

Earlier in the campaign they lacked a top order batsman to take responsibility for the innings but they soon addressed that and then came the issue of having to adjust their game on a home pitch which does nothing for them in terms of suiting them. They saw that off strongly and now look to have all bases covered for a genuine tilt at this title from here on in.

Team News

There is no indication that Jos Buttler is returning to the Rajasthan Royals ranks. He was due to leave in midweek anyway so it wouldn’t make much sense for him to go back now. The only issue is whether Ashton Turner stays in or Liam Livingstone plays.

Delhi Capitals went spin heavy in their last match and are expected to name an unchanged side unless there is a late illness in the camp or unless someone has struggled to cope with the quick turnaround.

Betting

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that we shouldn’t be with the Delhi Capitals in this match. It took them a while the fall on the right combination and I daresay they will still get it wrong again between now and the end of the season but they match up so well against the Rajasthan Royals that I have to be with them in this match, especially with no sign of Jos Buttler being around.

He is the one Rajasthan batsman who can take a game away from the opposition from the very beginning and without him I suspect Delhi will be able to settle in with the ball and then get the squeeze on with their spinners throughout the innings. With their batting bubbling up nicely and possibly more to come from that unit there is plenty to suggest we should be on the Capitals here.
