IPL 2019 – Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Betting Preview

There is only one match in the Indian Premier League this Saturday but it is a massive one for the two teams involved as the Rajasthan Royals host the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a contest which is must win for the home side.

It is a game that the away side can hardly afford to lose either mind you which means we are set up for a great occasion and a wonderfully competitive game of cricket. This isn’t knockout cricket yet but for the Royals it might as well be.

Rajasthan Royals

Just when they looked to be going nowhere this term, the Rajasthan Royals have suddenly come alive. They have won two of their last three, in pretty comfortable fashion too it must be said, and they have given themselves a bit of confidence and form to build from moving forward. As tough as it will be, they know three wins could yet see them in the play-offs for the second season in a row.

The Royals knew they were facing a mountain of upheaval though and that stage of the season has arrived. They have lost three big England players and another huge name is set to leave after the weekend so now is the time for the home contingent in the Rajasthan squad to stand up and be counted in a big way.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

It is not just the Rajasthan Royals who will be affected by players leaving in the coming days. Sunrisers have already lost one and another goes within a week so their squad is going to be tested a little more as well. With that in mind it might be to their advantage that they have five wins from their 10 matches so far this term and with the best run rate in the tournament two wins should get them into the play-offs.

Generally the strength of the Indian players in this side is with the ball in hand so their bowling attack is going to have to deliver the goods if they are not only going to make the play-offs but put up a good account of themselves if and when they get there. If their Indian middle order can come to the party then that certainly shouldn’t be a bad thing for them.

Team News

Jos Buttler had already departed the scene for the Rajasthan Royals and now Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes have left. Liam Livingstone, Ashton Turner and Ish Sodhi are the men looking to force their way into the side.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost Jonny Bairstow now. Martin Guptill was signed with that in mind but a better balance might come should Kane Williamson replace the Englishman. Wriddhiman Saha could replace Bairstow with the gloves.

Betting

Much like Friday’s match, this was one which I had labelled down as having little intention to get stuck into because I know that both sides are without key players for the first time and we’re not completely sure how they will line up and which approach they will adopt from here on in. I am going to allow myself a small bet though but with an interest rather than a strong instinct.

Dave Warner top scored for Hyderabad in the reverse meeting between these two sides, blasting 69 from just 37 balls and with the key man of the Royals attack out of the way I see no reason why the Australian won’t fill his boots again here. While he is at the crease few will be scoring quicker than him and with the other main batsman in this side having left, there might not be too much to challenge him. Sunrisers need Warner to go big here and I think he’ll understand that and give himself the best opportunity to do exactly that. I’ll take him to top score at 2/1.
