IPL 2019 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals Betting Preview

It is the third Sunday of the Indian Premier League which means that we have another double header of action in the exciting league and with the table bunched up nicely, we should be in for a truly top day of action.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore play host to the Delhi Capitals in the first of the two matches on Sunday with both sides wanting to win. It must be said that it is a bigger match for the home side but Delhi are in a slump they want to get out of.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

It is never a good thing to be playing must win cricket five matches into a new season but that is the case for the Royal Challengers Bangalore here. They have played five matches so far this term and they have lost the lot. Even when they have got into a winning position they have been blown away and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, such as against Kolkata last time out.

The big concern for Bangalore from that last match is the fact that actually their batting fired and for 15 overs their bowling was decent enough as well and they still couldn’t come out with a win. Andre Russell can destroy any attack but you would have to acknowledge that he was helped by some pretty ordinary death bowling to say the least.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals looked like they were getting into position to launch a title charge this term. They won their opening match against Mumbai Indians in dominant style but then since then it has been a struggle for them once again. Even the match they won in that time they tried their best to throw away before eventually getting over the line in a super over.

Since then they have lost two matches in pretty ordinary fashion, not putting up nearly enough runs in either of them and lacking the necessary minerals with the ball as a result. There is no doubt there is a seriously good side within the Delhi ranks but for some reason it is not coming out of them and that has to change quickly if they are going to go deep in the event.

Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore finally brought an overseas bowler into their set up in the last game and he got plundered for 61 runs so that plan isn’t going to be seen again. Not with Tim Southee anyway. They could go back to Shimron Hetmyer.

Delhi Capitals are unlikely to play three spinners in this one with the boundaries so small on this ground so someone like Avesh Khan could come back in for Axar Patel who was feeling his ribs throughout the last match.

Betting

I’m becoming a bit of a broken record now but I can’t be betting on the outcome of the match here without knowing who has won the toss. We saw why perfectly in the previous match on this ground when Kolkata needed three a ball at one stage and got home with almost an over to go. No score is defendable with comfort on this track with the pitches so good.

With that in mind it is the boundaries market for me once again here. I took the sixes the other night and it was one of those matches where Virat and AB decided to hit everything along the carpet so just in case they do that again I’ll take the boundaries over the sixes. The line is 45.5 but when you consider we’ve seen 50 and 54 on this ground already and now we’ve got this exciting Delhi batting line up in town that looks very low. This is a day game so the ball should really fly. I’ll take the over.
