IPL 2019 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kings XI Punjab Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League match on Wednesday sees the event back in Bangalore for what should be a thrilling contest between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kings XI Punjab, a match both sides really have to win.

Bangalore are in this stage of their campaign where another loss ends their season while after a good start to the tournament, the Kings XI Punjab have hit the buffers and are now fighting for their place in the latter stages.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

With just three wins from 10 matches, the Royal Challengers Bangalore season should already be over from a competitive standpoint, but a couple of sides have started to wait for them and a win here would put them right back among the chasing pack for what looks like one last spot in the play-offs come the end of the regular season.

It took them an absolute age to work it out but they have finally come across a batting line up that works for them and that is beginning to deliver big scores. That in turn has relieved some of the pressure on their bowlers and although they haven’t been perfect with the ball they are getting better all the time. They need to maintain their standards throughout the campaign though if they are to get anything out of it.

Kings XI Punjab

Two losses in their last three matches has seen the Kings XI Punjab team slip out of the play-off places but they know that if they can win three of their last four they will be in with the big guns come the end of the campaign. They could do with a big win along the way because their run rate isn’t the best but when you have Chris Gayle in your ranks that is always possible.

If the Kings XI are going to make it into the postseason then their bowling is going to have to improve when the pressure situations come along. All too often in this tournament they have set matches up only to come undone late on with the ball. If they can hold their nerve at the death then they should be major players as they have every other base covered.

Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore are unlikely to rush into too many changes here having stumbled upon a set up that works for them. Umesh Yadav could make way if they want to change things around slightly but that would be a strange move.

Kings XI Punjab are hoping that Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be fit for this contest but playing three spinners in Bangalore would be unlikely anyway so I would expect Sam Curran or Hardus Viljoen to continue in his place.

Betting

I’m not going to bet on the match outcome on this ground but any side who has Chris Gayle in their ranks at this ground with tiny boundaries shouldn’t really be 5/4 to win it. Much of this Kings XI side have played for Bangalore in the IPL so they will know conditions well and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they win this, especially if they are chasing.

The better bet has to come in the form of the sixes though where a 15.5 line looks incredibly tempting indeed. If the likes of Gayle and de Villiers get going they can cover this on their own but there are plenty of other big hitters on show and two bowling attacks who know all about going round the park in this tournament so whoever hits them we should see this line covered.
