IPL 2019 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals Betting Preview

The second round of fixtures in the Indian Premier League comes to a close on Friday when the two sides yet to play more than their opening match collide as the Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Rajasthan Royals for a valuable two points.

Both teams lost their first games so although this is a long campaign they will both be looking to get their first victory on the board here and ease some of the pressure that would inevitably build the longer a team goes without success.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

It appeared as though the Sunrisers were going to draw first blood quite comfortably in their opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders but then they ran into the first Andre Russell blitz of the season and like many when they come face on with that, they had no answer to it. I wouldn’t expect them to panic after that as there wasn’t a huge amount they could do about it but they won’t want a repeat here.

There were plenty of positives for the former champions in that first match. They batted very nicely despite one or two changes to their side and then when they had the ball in hand, for the most part they bowled pretty well on a tiny Eden Gardens ground but ultimately the match was set up for Russell to do his thing and deny them.

Rajasthan Royals

Much like their opponents here, the Rajasthan Royals looked to be cantering to victory in their opening match against the Kings XI Punjab but then disaster struck as the controversial Mankad incident occurred and they folded both mentally and literally to end up snatching a difficult defeat from the jaws of victory.

I wouldn’t think they would dwell too much on that loss. I wouldn’t expect such an incident to happen again and they are still so rare that I will give a side the benefit of the doubt when it does happen. Instead the Royals should focus on their wonderful bowling effort and the start they got with the bat. If they produce those efforts all season they should be challengers for the top four at the very least.

Team News

Sunrisers Hyderabad are expected to recall Kane Wiliamson to their side after he has recovered from injury and been seen in the nets on the eve of the match. Shakib-al-Hasan or Jonny Bairstow look most likely to sit out.

Rajasthan Royals are kind of tied down with their overseas players so unless they want to change the Indians in their side then not much is going to be different about their line up here. I would expect them to be unchanged.

Betting

I’m a little reluctant to get too involved in this match because I sense neither side is completely settled just yet and we’ve not seen the Hyderabad wicket. Usually it is good for batting but we’ve seen a couple of pitches so far that should have been good for batting not quite live up to expectation so I’ll leave the match result alone.

Even if this is good for batting, the batsmen will do well to hold sway here against two very good bowling attacks. Both teams have wickets in them with the new ball which is massive and both have decent options at the death so I’m not sure the recent spate of high scoring matches will be continued here. The total runs line in this one is 330.5 but that looks a shade on the high side given the quality of bowler on show and the question marks over the middle order of both.
