IPL 2025 – Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Tips and Betting Preview

The last double header of the Indian Premier League season takes place on Sunday when the regular IPL 2025 campaign concludes for the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings when the two teams meet in Ahmedabad.

This is a clash between top and bottom of the table with the Titans looking to seal top spot heading into the finals and the Super Kings looking for a big margin win which would see them avoid picking up the wooden spoon.

Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans have been the best team so far this season but it might be in their favour that they haven’t wrapped up a top two finish yet. They will do that with a win here, in fact they will confirm top spot with a win here, but could still finish in the top two with a loss if two of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians lose their last match. Two of those face each other which would help their cause.

The fact that they have to play to win here would mean that whatever happens over the next few days, the Titans haven’t had any dead rubbers where they could have lost their form or momentum. They did lose their last outing though so won’t want to go in with successive defeats. Their bowling got carted to all parts in that match and for once their batters couldn’t get them out of trouble. Gujarat will be hoping their bowling really shows up here ahead of where it really counts.

Chennai Super Kings

This has been another wretched season for the Chennai Super Kings, one which I would imagine they are delighted will come to an end after this contest. They just haven’t got going at all and at no stage were they ever really looking like they would be a playoff contender. There are young players on the roster who are now playing for deals for next season and beyond but the experienced players have really let this side down this term.

The bowlers have been the biggest issue. They just haven’t been able to build and maintain any pressure on the opposition. They have a senior bowling unit but they just haven’t performed to their best often enough. That hasn’t helped their batting, which at the start of the season had the plan to negate the new ball and set the innings up for the back end but they soon had to abandon that philosophy because the IPL has moved on now.

Key Players

Rashid Khan has had a really ordinary campaign by his standards but you sense if the Gujarat Titans are going to win this title for the first time then he will need to bowl well over what they hope will be three more matches.

Shivam Dube hasn’t really caught fire to the levels that the Chennai Super Kings would have wanted him to do when they went into the season. He has one last chance to do that here and show he can still get the job done for them.

Betting

This feels like it has the potential to be another high scoring match because there has been little in this Chennai Super Kings bowling unit with the exception of Noor Ahmad and even he has been hit for boundaries at times. Chennai now bowl at the best top three in the competition and the middle order for the Gujarat Titans aren’t exactly shabby either. It would be a huge surprise if the Titans didn’t tuck into this bowling attack.

When you consider that the Chennai Super Kings have nothing to lose in this match and can swing with freedom it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they finally click into gear with the bat, especially as the Gujarat Titans bowling has just conceded more than 230 last time out. We might not get to those levels here but there was in excess of 60 boundaries in that match and so the 48.5 boundaries line looks a little on the low side here.
