IPL 2025 – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals Tips and Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League is back at the Wankhede Stadium for the first time since the IPL 2025 campaign resumed on Wednesday when the Mumbai Indians go up against the Delhi Capitals in a huge clash for the season.

These two sides are both in contention to reach the finals but if Mumbai win this match they will secure their spot and Delhi will be out. A Delhi win still keeps them firmly in the hunt for the top four and be in control of their own destiny going into the last games.

Mumbai Indians

This has been a typical Mumbai Indians season so far. They lost four of their first five matches and then stormed back to win six on the spin only to lose their last game prior to the break. They resume their campaign here knowing that a win in this match will secure a top four finish and then they can see if anyone above them can slip up to let them into the top two if they go on and win their last game of the campaign. The first priority is winning here else they lose control of their own destiny.

It will be interesting to see whether the Mumbai Indians are able to pick up as if they haven’t stopped this season. They are a team who build into a season and if this break has forced them to do that again they might run out of time to make the top four. The good news for them is that it looks like Jasprit Bumrah is good to go from the restart and his inclusion will make a difference on a ground where scoring is generally high. Mumbai will still need their batters to show up if they are going to win this though.

Delhi Capitals

It is do or die for the Delhi Capitals in this match. They did themselves no favours when they were ruthlessly beaten by the Gujarat Titans in their last outing which means in all likelihood they will have to win their last two matches to make it into the top four, a position which looked like it would be a formality once they had won their opening four matches. Just two wins in eight since then though has left them teetering on the edge of being knocked out so they have reached a crossroads for their season here.

The Capitals finally came to the party with the bat once again in the last match but their bowlers let them down. To be fair to Delhi, they are probably going to have to do it quite tough with the ball now with Mitchell Starc having not returned to conclude the season. That leaves a massive hole in their bowling attack, one which showed no signs of being filled in that first game against the Titans and you would have to fear for that unit on this ground.

Key Players

Will Jacks is heading off at the end of the regular season to get ready for international duty and he will be keen to sign off with a couple of big performances. If he can catch fire with the bat he could take the game away from Delhi here.

We saw all the class of KL Rahul when he was pushed up to open in the match against the Gujarat Titans. He smacked a brutal century but it wasn’t enough to get his side over the line. Nevertheless, the Capitals will want big things from him again.

Betting

We are back at the Wankhede for this one where the ball always tends to fly and with there having not been a match on this ground for more than two weeks we should expect one of those batting paradises that this place can often produce and should we get that then you would expect the sixes to flow, especially with this having a knockout element to it for the Delhi Capitals so they might as well go down swinging if they are to go down.

Delhi just walloped 10 sixes against the Gujarat Titans attack in their last match so we know that they can hit big and you only have to look at this Mumbai Indians batting unit to know that they have plenty of six hitting power within their ranks so it would be a real surprise if the sixes don’t flow here. The 19.5 line is probably on the limit of where I am comfortable but we saw how exposed the Delhi bowling has been with the absence of Mitchell Starc in the last game and that is enough to convince me to get involved here.
