We are back to one match in the Indian Premier League on Monday and it comes from the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium as the IPL 2025 season continues with the Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting the Delhi Capitals.
In the early stages of the season it looked like the Capitals were cruising towards the playoffs but that isn’t the case anymore and they will be out to revive their season here. The Sunrisers have already seen their campaign end from a competitive point of view.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
There is no doubting the fact that the Sunrisers Hyderabad haven’t lived up to the billing this season. Regardless of what the campaign looked like at the beginning and how it ended up, they won’t have expected it to be a dead event four matches from the end of it so there are likely to be repercussions at the end of the season. That means that players could be playing for their futures with the franchise which could make them dangerous.
If the Sunrisers are to finish the season on a high then this batting unit needs to start firing again. There has been slight improvement in the bowling, although the bar was low enough that it probably still hasn’t been to the level required so the batting, which is generally where the majority of the money has been spent, really needs to fire else a pretty ordinary season will just tail off completely and they won’t have anything to take from it.
Delhi Capitals
When the Delhi Capitals won their opening four matches they would have been firm favourites to qualify for the finals but two wins from six since then have thrown those hopes into doubt and they could do with a win here just to get back on track. Were they to win they would still be outside the top four on net run rate barring a huge margin of victory but they would be nicely placed to take advantage of any slip ups ahead of them and they play the three teams immediately above them in the table.
Delhi will be looking for their bowlers to come back to the party in this match. They have been hit around the park a little in recent times and they will need to be at their best to contain the threat that the Sunrisers offer up. There are just one or two players who have come off the top of their form with the bat too which would help if they come back to their best but Delhi are just looking for an all-round good performance with a collective showing here.

Key Players
Abhishek Sharma returned to form with the bat in the previous match with 74 off 41 balls in an innings which included 10 boundaries and if he can get going on his home ground he could do some big damage quite quickly.
Axar Patel took 2/27 and fired 43 off 23 balls in the defeat to the Kolkata Knight Riders last time out and the Delhi Capitals will be looking for a similarly good performance from their captain with the bat and ball in this one too.
Betting
When you consider that Mitchell Starc has 12 wickets in Delhi home matches this season but only two in away games there is a chance that the Sunrisers Hyderabad could get away from the Capitals at the top of the order with the bat and then when you factor in that in his last five bowling efforts Kuldeep Yadav has only taken two wickets so if the Sunrisers have got off to a strong start, there is every chance they can maximise the middle overs too which should stand them in good stead.
On the flip side of that, with the bat Karun Nair made 89 in his opening innings in the tournament but in the five since then he has only scored 55 runs in total while Abishek Porel and KL Rahul have just dipped from their top form as well. When you then add in that the Sunrisers have no competitive pressure then the even money on the beaten finalists, who will want to prove something to a home crowd at the very least, could well be the ones to be on.
