The final round of County Championship action before the last break for white ball cricket this season begins on Monday and with things bubbling up nicely in both divisions we should be in for a decent week of cricket.
The limited overs stuff is still taking up the TV attention so once again we are left with the county streams to watch the action unfold but if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by then they will be well worth watching.
Division One
Surrey continue to lead the way in the top flight and they will look to remain top of the table when they welcome the champions Warwickshire to The Oval. Warwickshire could do with a win here as they are in danger of going from champions to relegation in the space of a year. Hampshire are the team looking to keep the heat on Surrey and they make the trip up to Scarborough to take on Yorkshire this week. At the other end of the table things are getting serious for Gloucestershire who could really do with a win when they welcome Northamptonshire to Cheltenham. Somerset are the other team in the relegation zone and they head to Chelmsford to take on Essex. The other match sees Lancashire in third playing host to Kent who are in sixth.

Division Two
There is a compelling promotion race bubbling along in Division Two and with Glamorgan in second place not in action this week the stage is clear for the chasing pack to close in on them. Middlesex sit in third but are only eight points below Glamorgan in the table so will be looking to move above them when they head to Durham. Derbyshire begin the week in fourth place and they can keep their hopes of promotion alive when they head to New Road to take on a Worcestershire, who being 33 points adrift of Glamorgan with a game in hand, can get themselves right back in the promotion shake up with a win here.
Betting
I’ll go with one bet over the course of the week which comes at New Road where the 10/11 on Worcestershire to beat Derbyshire might be a touch on the big side. Both sides are without their star overseas player from earlier in the season. Worcestershire have Azhar Ali away on international duty while Derbyshire have Shan Masood in the same place. Both have replaced them but I like the potential impact of Mohammad Hasnain for Worcestershire in this match more than I do that of Hilton Cartwright.
Worcestershire begin this match below Derbyshire in the table but they actually have more wins than them this season and only the top two teams in the second division standings have beaten them this term. Derbyshire are a much improved side this season but I’m not sure they are top two material just yet and I’m a little concerned for their bowling attack while it goes without saying that the loss of a man with 1,074 runs at 82.61 is going to leave a huge hole. Worcestershire look much more solid throughout the order and I think they’ll win this one.
