Major League Cricket 2025 – Texas Super Kings vs Seattle Orcas Tips and Betting Preview

The second part of the double header in the Major League Cricket competition on Saturday night sees the two teams who lost in the MLC 2025 campaign on Friday battling it out when the Texas Super Kings host the Seattle Orcas.

The Super Kings are through to the final stages of the competition but need to win here to have any chance of reaching the top two. Seattle are looking for a win which will be enough to qualify for the finals themselves in New York have lost earlier in the day.

Texas Super Kings

The Texas Super Kings may well be kicking themselves at the minute because they had their top two destiny in their own hands heading into Friday and at the halfway point of their match against the San Francisco Unicorns it looked like they would remain in possession of their own fortunes but they failed to chase down a score below 150, coming up short by a solitary run and with that they are now relying on others to help them if they are to finish in the top two.

The first port of call is for them to win this match and in order for that to be a more comfortable proposition then we need to see more from their top order. There was a bit of a concern that having lost a couple of early wickets on Friday night they lost their way for a little too long and will need to learn from that. They do have players who can catch up with the bat but the pitches aren’t going to be conducive for that to happen as easily here now.

Seattle Orcas

It was a night to forget for the Seattle Orcas. To be fair to them, they had set up a position where they could have a mare and it not cost them as much as it might have at a different time but there hasn’t been much of a turnaround for them to dust themselves down and get themselves up to go again for what is likely to be a must-win match in order for them to have a chance of reaching the top four when the regular season comes to a close.

The Orcas won’t need anyone to tell them that they have to be much better with the bat in this match. Considering that they had been able to watch most of the earlier match in the day the way they went about their business with the bat was naïve to say the least and they need to be a whole lot smarter than that here. We had seen in the last couple of matches that their bowling is beginning to get to grips with things so all isn’t lost if they can sort out those batting issues.

Key Players

We flagged Donovan Ferreira up as a key player on Friday night and he nearly got the Texas Super Kings home. At time he looked like he was batting on a different pitch to the rest and you just wonder if he could go up a place in the batting order.

Heinrich Klaasen has shown glimpses of the player who is itching to break out with a big score. These aren’t optimum conditions for his batting style but it certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing if the former captain delivered on that promise.

Betting

Much like the earlier game in the day, we have a run line in excess of 340 for this match at 341.5 and it just feels too high. It would do anyway but it is hard to believe that the Seattle Orcas are suddenly going to put up anything close to 170 against an attack as good as the Super Kings’ one when they have just been skittled for 80 odd but Texas Super Kings just failed to chase 148 down on this ground too which adds to the thinking that this line is too high.

At the time of writing the run rate in the early game is around the seven an over mark which would yield a score around the 140 mark and I’m not expecting to see much more here given the state of the Texas attack and the way that Seattle have to dust themselves down with the bat. Even were Texas to dominate the game there is no guarantee that they will score in excess of 170 given the tacky nature of the pitches and the sluggish outfield so the under appeals once again here.
