There are two days of matches left in the group stage of the Metro Bank One Day Cup with the first of them coming along on Sunday where the chase for places in the knockout stage will continue at quite some pace.
Both group tables make very interesting reading heading into the penultimate day of action but despite that we will need to hit up the county streams to watch any of these matches as The Hundred once again gets the TV attention.
Group A
Leicestershire begin the day on top of the Group A table but they have played a game more than second placed Hampshire. Both teams are in action on Sunday. Leicestershire close out their group campaign when they host a Yorkshire side who are looking for a win which could move them into the all-important third spot, while Hampshire head to Guildford to take on Surrey, who are already eliminated from the competition. Kent and Lancashire both have the chance to move themselves up to third and be in control of their own destiny on Tuesday. Kent welcome Essex to Canterbury while Lancashire head to Lord’s to take on a Middlesex side who are playing for pride.

Group B
Warwickshire have the chance to book their ticket to a home semi-final on Sunday. The only team left in the competition with a perfect record host an already eliminated Durham knowing if they win they won’t need to worry about their final group match or a quarter final on Friday. Worcestershire have the chance to secure their place in the knockout stages when they host a Sussex side who have nothing to play for while Northamptonshire will hope to keep their faint chances of progressing to the knockout stages alive when they host Derbyshire. Somerset and Glamorgan will be meeting purely for pride when they meet at Taunton.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that I like on Sunday with us being in that stage at the end of all leagues where those with a competitive interest are a lot shorter than those without one, although I do still think Kent should be shorter than they are. It might be that they are as big as 8/11 to see off Essex because they let a favourable position slip against Nottinghamshire last time out but I still think there is way too much in this Kent squad to have more than enough to come through here.
Essex gave the competition up a while ago and although they had a good win over Middlesex they have lost two since and have taken the decision to rest Simon Harmer from here on in. That is particularly crucial here because spin took seven wickets against Nottinghamshire on Friday and you wouldn’t think this one would be played on a different pitch, or if it is it won’t be too far from the one that was used then because of a lack of preparation time. Essex without their best spinner against a decent Kent batting unit who have two very good spinners should equate to a home win here.
