Metro Bank One Day Cup 2024 – Tuesday 6th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Metro Bank One Day Cup continues a busy week of action on Tuesday when three matches take place as we begin to get nearer to the end of the group phase and closer to determining who will go into the knockout stage of the 50 over competition.

Once again, as has been the case throughout the tournament so far, The Hundred is getting the TV attention which means that if you have a bet on any of these matches and want to track its progress you’ll need the live stream that the home county provides.

Group A

We have just the one match in Group A on Tuesday and it is getting to the stage of do or die for the two teams who are involved as Middlesex and Durham meet at Radlett. Both teams have two wins from four matches in the group so can’t afford more than one more defeat although both have a negative run rate so it might be that even one more loss puts them out of the competition so there is all to play for at the Middlesex outground there.

Group B

The other two matches on Tuesday comes from Group B where things are getting rather interesting. The defending champions Leicestershire have the chance to move into the top three when they play host to an already eliminated Surrey at Kibworth. A win will keep them in control of their own destiny. It is do or die in the other match as Yorkshire welcome Essex to Scarborough. Both teams are in the bottom half of the table and a loss here could end their chances of progressing.

Betting

I’m a little surprised that Durham aren’t a bit shorter to beat Middlesex than they actually are. I’m not a massive fan of Middlesex even though they have the same record as their opponents going into this match. Their bowling looks like it should be performing better than it is but on an outground it is capable of going the distance, as we saw them do against Northamptonshire here last week. Middlesex were able to get on top of the Northants bowling but I don’t see that being the case with this Durham one.

The Durham batting unit looks really strong even allowing for the fact that Ollie Robinson and Graham Clark are away at The Hundred. The likes of Alex Lees, Scott Borthwick, Michael Jones and Colin Ackermann make for a decent top order and then with the ball Ackermann, Bas de Leede and Paul Coughlin are all taking wickets and going at under five an over and the back up bowlers are warming to the task too. Durham have a good mix of seam and spin with the ball and of power and brains with the bat and I think they get the job done here.
