MLS 2017 – New England Revolution vs San Jose Earthquakes Betting Preview

We have a midweek match in the MLS this week which comes from Foxboro as the New England Revolution go up against the San Jose Earthquakes in an inter-conference battle.

This is the only match prior to the weekend so both sides have a real chance to enhance their positions in their respective conferences and that is an opportunity both sides will be eager to take.

New England Revolution

A win for the Revolution will move them into the playoff places in the early Easter Conference table. They will move ahead of Atlanta United and the New York Red Bulls into fifth and will be in a position to kick on and make this a very successful campaign in terms of reaching the postseason at least.

They were well beaten by the Chicago Fire at the weekend so they will be out to bounce back here. Their chances may not have been assisted in any way by the fact they played more than an hour with ten men in Chicago so they might have some heavy legs in the dressing room going into this match.

San Jose Earthquakes

San Jose head into this match without a win in four matches although if you actually watched their performances in those matches you wouldn’t think that was the case. They have been denied a couple of wins with late equalisers in recent times although that won’t be doing much for their confidence.

A win here will move them over the Houston Dynamo into fourth spot in the Western Conference and they too would be back on track and ready to launch for a place in the postseason come the end of the campaign. They have suffered two 2-1 defeats in their only away games so far this season so that is a run they will want to end.

Team News

New England have no new injury problems but they will be without the suspended Je-Vaughn Watson who was sent off in their previous match.

San Jose are going to be without their forward Quincy Amarikwa and Harold Cummings for the foreseeable future while Marvell Wynne’s heart abnormality and Marc Pelosi’s knee injury are keeping them out.

Betting

There isn’t anything I fancy in this match. San Jose’s form isn’t what I would like it to be if I was to back them and I can’t really be taking the New England Revolution at odds on when they played more than an hour with ten men just four days ago.

If pushed you would probably get me to say New England will win the match but we would be guessing on their physical state and I don’t want to do that so I’ll wait until the weekend for my next MLS punt.
