MLS 2017 – Saturday 16th September Matches Betting Preview

The bulk of the MLS action this weekend is played out on Saturday with all but one of the matches taking place on the main day for football over various kick off times. Both tables have really formed now and it will be interesting to see if anyone can overcome the status quo.

With the majority of the sides at the top of both Conferences in action on Saturday it has the feel of a big night about it. Two of the matches are live on Sky in the UK which should make for a decent bit of viewing into the early hours.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Atlanta United vs Orlando City (20.55)

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Columbus Crew (00.00)

Montreal Impact vs Minnesota United (00.30)

FC Dallas vs Seattle Sounders (01.00)

Chicago Fire vs DC United (01.30)

Sporting Kansas City vs New England Revolution (01.30)

Colorado Rapids vs New York City (02.00)

Real Salt Lake vs Portland Timbers (02.30)

Los Angeles Galaxy vs Toronto FC (03.30)

San Jose Earthquakes vs Houston Dynamo (03.30)

Big Matches

The two matches live on TV in the UK are the ones between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Columbus Crew as well as the Real Salt Lake vs Portland Timbers. They should be two cracking encounters. Eastern Conference leaders Toronto FC head to Los Angeles Galaxy in a high profile clash while there is a big Western Conference clash when FC Dallas host Seattle Sounders.

Best of the Rest

Chicago Fire look to have the chance to get back to winning ways when they host DC United while Atlanta United take on Orlando City in a rivalry match. Sporting Kansas City will be looking to take advantage of New England Revolution’s heavy defeat in midweek. Another big Western Conference battle sees the San Jose Earthquakes taking on Houston Dynamo.

Betting

This is the sort of card that you need to be a little selective in else you could get stuck into an insane amount of bets. I’m going with three over the course of the night.

First up I like Montreal Impact to see off a relatively side in Minnesota United. To be fair Minnesota would be up against it here even if they hadn’t played in midweek but the fact that they did and were well beaten I like the look of the Impact here. The Canadians know they have to win this match if they are going to keep in the play-off hunt and I expect them to do that comfortably.

In Dallas I just have to take FC Dallas on. I know there is the school of thought that you wouldn’t get involved with away sides in this league and that is understandable but I have to go against the usually solid Dallas side especially with a draw being more than enough to bring in the +0.75 line which is crazily on offer for Seattle Sounders. The champions are on this long unbeaten run while Dallas haven’t won in yonks. I don’t see that changing here.

Finally I like Sporting Kansas City. I was going to take whoever New England Revolution played given that they played 55 minutes with just nine men in midweek and got a real run around by a classy Atlanta United side. Sporting Kansas City are a solid team who don’t concede many goals and who should find an opposition who are both leggy and lacking impetus. That is a perfect platform for SKC to win and win big.
