We have another busy Saturday in the MLS this weekend as the season continues at quite a pace. In all on the evening there are seven matches with one of them on the TV in the UK as the coverage of the league gets stronger.
Among the sides on show on Saturday night we have the Western Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City and a host of other big sides on what looks like a good night of action.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off times in brackets)
Montreal Impact vs Portland Timbers (20.00)
DC United vs Chicago Fire (21.00)
Seattle Sounders vs Real Salt Lake (22.00)
Atlanta United vs Houston Dynamo (00.00)
Philadelphia Union vs Colorado Rapids (00.00)
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Sporting Kansas City (00.00)
FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes (01.00)
Sporting Kansas City will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Western Conference when they head to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps. The TV game on Saturday night in the UK is the Western clash between the Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake.
The action begins with a juicy looking clash between the Montreal Impact and the Portland Timbers while Atlanta United hosting Houston Dynamo is another which should be appealing on the eye. Two early season strugglers meet when Philadelphia Union host Colorado Rapids and in the other two matches DC United face Chicago Fire and FC Dallas meet San Jose.
I like three in this set of matches and I’m starting off with the first match of the day where I’m expecting some goals between Montreal Impact and Portland Timbers. Montreal have been involved in some high scoring matches recently while the Timbers are always on the front foot and looking to score goals. The Impact have added Blerim Dzemaili and he has hit the ground running and can contribute to the goals in this one.
Philadelphia Union took an absolute age to get going this season but they have now won their last three matches and are unbeaten in five in total. They host a Colorado Rapids who just can’t get anything going right now and who were well beaten in Chicago in midweek. All the flying they’ve been doing won’t have been easy and so I like the Union in home surroundings here.
Atlanta United haven’t been able to get anything going at home this season because they have barely played there but they have a chance to shine in front of their own fans on Saturday evening and they look to have the perfect opponent to do it against. Houston Dynamo are poor on the road and haven’t scored in their last three away games. They were well beaten in Philadelphia in midweek and look there for the taking for a fresher Atlanta here.
