Big Matches

One of the big matches of the night comes from Ohio as Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls do battle with both sides looking to win to ease their fears of falling out of a play-off place. Eastern Conference leaders Toronto FC head to New England Revolution while Western frontrunners Vancouver Whitecaps go to Colorado Rapids.

Best of the Rest

There is an important match for FC Dalllas when they head to Minnesota United looking to snap out of a poor trot of form while New York City FC will look to pick up a win when they host Houston Dynamo in Connecticut rather than the Yankee Stadium. Philadelphia Union take on Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake host Seattle Sounders in the other games.

Betting

There is just one bet which grabs my attention across this card. I can’t say that I wasn’t tempted by a few others but we are getting to that trappy part of the season which makes betting with confidence a little less easy.

The bet I like comes in the Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls match where I expect there to be goals. I think both sides will be out to win this game and strengthen their play-off hopes. Indeed if either can launch a run of form they could yet get home advantage in the first round of the postseason.

Both these sides are much better going forward than they are in defensive areas of the park and with the Crew especially keen on results in their matches we often see late goals as a result. I’m comfortable that there will be more than three goals in this one.
