MLS 2017 – Sunday 27th August Matches Betting Preview

‘Derby week’ in the MLS finishes with three exciting looking matches on Sunday night and for those who like their Major League Soccer in the UK it will be a wonderful night as the games go back to back to back ensuring six hours of football action in one go which is all live on Sky.

We have both Conference leaders in action on Sunday evening as well as a couple of really big sides so all the ingredients are there for a great night of action. We’ll go through them in kick off order.

Montreal Impact vs Toronto FC (21.30 BST)

We begin with a battle of the Canadian sides as a surging Montreal Impact host a Toronto FC side who have been far too good for the rest in the Eastern Conference so far in this campaign.

A win for Toronto will see them move nine points clear at the top of the East which would be pretty significant. A win for Montreal will see them move into the top six which makes the game important for both sides.

I’m expecting to see goals in this one. Montreal’s last eight have had three or more goals in them while four of Toronto’s last five have followed suit. Generally when these two meet there are goals and with the likes of Sebastien Giovinco, Ignacio Piatti and Blerim Dzemaili on show both defences could struggle. I like over 3 here.

Los Angeles Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes (00.00 BST)

Two sides languishing outside the play-off zone in the Western Conference meet in a huge California clash in the second match of the night when Los Angeles Galaxy host the San Jose Earthquakes.

I’m not really sure where to begin with this one. Los Angeles Galaxy are terrible at home and San Jose are awful on the road so something is going to have to give in this one. Given the derby nature of the weekend the draw could be a genuine runner in this one but it isn’t a match I can get too involved in.

Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers (02.30 BST)

The night is rounded off with a battle between the top two in the Western Conference with the winners of this one leaving the weekend on top of the pile. Seattle Sounders only have to avoid defeat to remain top while a Portland Timbers win will send them to the summit.

Both these sides are in good form at the minute which should see an entertaining match. Matches between these two are often tight encounters and I expect this one to be no different. A Portland win would all but secure the Cascadia Cup for this season. I’m not sure if they will win the game but I fancy they can ride a big handicap.

The Timbers may not be the best side on the road all told but they have been to Houston, Kansas City and Vancouver recently and remained unbeaten and that should give them the confidence to get something from this one.
