MLS 2018 – Friday 13th April Matches Betting Preview

The next round of matches in MLS begins on Friday night with a couple of fixtures to get what looks like a good weekend in Major League Soccer underway. We have a battle of two sides in the Eastern Conference followed by an all-Western Conference clash.

Both matches are on the various streaming consoles that show this league so although there is no TV coverage of them we are able to keep up to date with all the action which is perfect for a Friday night.

Philadelphia Union vs Orlando City

The Eastern Conference battle comes from Philadelphia where the Philadelphia Union take on a rapidly improving Orlando City side in what could be an entertaining opener to the evening.

I haven’t thought much of the Union this season but there were definitely signs of life from them in an attacking sense against San Jose last weekend and it will be interesting to see if they can back that up. Orlando City have performed a couple of excellent turnarounds in recent weeks to come through high scoring epics.

If I was certain last week’s attacking performance was not a one off from Philadelphia I would take the overs here. I hope it wasn’t and I suspect if Borek Dockal has now acclimatised to the league it won’t be but I’d need to see it first before I bet.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Los Angeles FC

The second match of the night comes in the very early hours of the morning UK time and sees the playoff side from last season Vancouver Whitecaps against the new franchise Los Angeles FC in an all-Western Conference match up.

It has been an eventful couple of weeks for Los Angeles FC. Things were going rather well for them when they led LA Galaxy 3-0 a couple of matches ago but they surrendered that lead to lose 4-3 and then went to Atlanta and lost 5-0 last week so they need to arrest the slide.

Vancouver Whitecaps have had an up and down start to the campaign but they are unbeaten at home which is a good thing for them and I suspect they will relish this contest. They have the firepower to find the net against this LAFC side and of the two they look the better balanced defensively.

LAFC suddenly look a tired unit to me. Their squad or roster as they call it in the States is not the deepest and every match has been on the road for them. Vancouver boss Carl Robinson has regularly rotated his personnel so the home side should be fresher and they can win here.
