MLS 2018 – Saturday 12th May Matches Betting Preview

After an entertaining start to the weekend in Vancouver on Friday night, the bulk of the latest round of matches in the MLS take place on Saturday as seven more fixtures are played out up and down the USA and Canada.

We have one of those matches live on TV for those of us who are in the UK and then the remainder of them are on whichever streaming service you would usually use in order to keep up with the rest of the contests.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)

Minnesota United vs San Jose Earthquakes (19.00)

Montreal Impact vs Philadelphia Union (20.00)

FC Dallas vs Los Angeles Galaxy (20.30)

Columbus Crew vs Chicago Fire (00.30)

New England Revolution vs Toronto FC (00.30)

Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls (02.00)

Real Salt Lake vs DC United (02.00)

Big Matches

The TV game for those of us who are in the UK is the one between FC Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference which means we get to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic back on our screens. With the higher sides in both conferences not playing until Sunday all eyes will also be on the champions Toronto FC when they travel to New England Revolution.

Best of the Rest

Minnesota United take on San Jose Earthquakes in the Western Conference while there are two all-Eastern Conference clashes as Montreal Impact host the Philadelphia Union and Chicago Fire head to Ohio to take on the Columbus Crew. Colorado Rapids face New York Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake meet DC United in the other matches.

Betting

I’m going with a couple of home sides in this set of matches. Montreal Impact have won two of their three at home this season and I expect them to make that three from four when Philadelphia Union come to town. Philadelphia are having a massive struggle to score goals, especially on their travels where they are yet to score in four matches. Montreal are scoring goals for fun wherever they go and while they might not be the tightest at the back they might not be under as much pressure here. I like the Impact on this one.

Later in the night I like Real Salt Lake to see off DC United. DC are another side who are poor on their travels. They’ve lost their last four matches and heading to Rio Tinto isn’t ideal for them as Real Salt Lake have won their last three there. Salt Lake have actually played some nice stuff in those matches too. The profile of DC United will be raised when Wayne Rooney arrives but they are signing him because they desperately need him and given that he hasn’t signed yet I’m with RSL in this one.
