Big Matches

The two matches that are on TV for those of us who are in the UK are the opening one between Los Angeles FC and San Jose Earthquakes and also the Atlanta United against Real Salt Lake match. The other big match of the night is the one from New York as the Red Bulls look to battle away at the top of the Eastern Conference when they take on a Toronto FC side who are chasing that last play-off spot.

Best of the Rest

Montreal Impact are another heavily involved in that race for the final play-off spot in the Eastern Conference and a win over New York City FC could be pivotal for them. New England Revolution are another in the mix and they simply must beat Chicago Fire while Columbus Crew can keep their noses in front in the race for a home tie in the first round of the postseason if they can beat Colorado Rapids.

Betting

A look down the card suggests that there will be some high scoring matches on Saturday evening and I’m happy to take the goal line in three of them. That starts off in the opening match between Los Angeles FC and San Jose Earthquakes. I highlighted in midweek how high scoring San Jose matches are and having put everything into the match against Atlanta they look vulnerable to an exciting and dynamic LAFC attack which could easily score four goals themselves. San Jose usually notch at some point though but with a win vital for LA I’m expecting this one to sail beyond 3.5 goals as most Earthquakes matches recently have done.

Generally Atlanta United are amazing at home and I expect them to showcase that again on Saturday evening. In saying that there is a vulnerability about them defensively all of a sudden and Real Salt Lake are certainly good enough on the counter attack to cause them problems. Atlanta guarantee a first round bye in the postseason with a win here and I think if it does come it will come with another flurry of goals in front of their own fans. Over 3.25 goals shouldn’t be in too much danger here.

Finally I’m expecting goals in Orlando where two aggressive and attacking sides who often leave themselves exposed at the back meet when Orlando City takes on Houston Dynamo. Orlando go into this match off the back of a 4-0 hiding by Chicago Fire which isn’t the greatest result in the world while Houston found their scoring touch again in thumping Portland Timbers 4-1 in their last match. Both sides are used to being involved in high scoring encounters and I expect this to be another that follows that trend.
