MLS 2018 – Saturday 26th May Matches Betting Preview

After a decent night of football on Friday, the MLS weekend continues with another batch of fixtures on Saturday and with the leaders of the two Conferences not in action it is a day for the chasing packs to make their moves.

In all there are seven matches of which two of them are live on Sky for those of us in the UK. The usual methods will be in operation to keep up with the rest of the games on what should be another good night of footy.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Seattle Sounders vs Real Salt Lake (22.00)

Vancouver Whitecaps vs New England Revolution (22.30)

New York Red Bulls vs Philadelphia Union (00.00)

Orlando City vs Chicago Fire (00.30)

Minnesota United vs Montreal Impact (01.00)

Colorado Rapids vs Portland Timbers (02.00)

Los Angeles FC vs DC United (03.00)

Big Matches

The two TV matches come fairly early in the piece with the Seattle Sounders hosting Real Salt Lake in a biggish Western Conference clash. Both sides sit outside the top six going into the weekend so it is getting to the stage where both need a win if they have playoff ambitions. The second TV offering comes from the Big Apple as the New York Red Bulls go in search of a fifth straight win when they face a Philadelphia Union side who have won their last two.

Best of the Rest

Los Angeles FC can move to within a point of the top of the Western Conference when they take on DC United at the Banc of California Stadium while the Portland Timbers will be looking to continue their good form when they head to altitude to take on the Colorado Rapids. Orlando City take on Chicago Fire in a key looking Eastern Conference battle.

Betting

I’m going to go with one bet over the course of the evening. There were a couple of others that I considered that were on my radar but team news and value puts me off them so I’ll focus on the second of the TV matches.

That sees New York Red Bulls taking on Philadelphia Union in what I expect to be a high scoring contest. New York have scored 12 goals in their last four matches but Philadelphia head to the Big Apple off the back of a fine 4-1 win over Real Salt Lake where their attack looked as good as it has done for a while. New York Red Bulls matches tend to be high scoring and I don’t see this one being any different. I’ll take over 3 here.
