MLS 2018 – Saturday 6th October Matches Betting Preview

The end of the MLS regular season is in sight and for those still battling for a place in the postseason every match is going to be crucial from here on in. There are a number of matches which could have big implications in that on a busy Saturday evening card.

There are teams in both Conferences for whom Saturday is a huge night and with a couple of the matches on TV and the remainder of them on the various streaming options we should be in for a tense evening of action.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Montreal Impact vs Columbus Crew (20.00)

Atlanta United vs New England Revolution (20.30)

Toronto FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps (22.00)

Philadelphia Union vs Minnesota United (00.30)

FC Dallas vs Orlando City (01.00)

Sporting Kansas City vs Los Angeles Galaxy (01.30)

Colorado Rapids vs Los Angeles FC (02.00)

Real Salt Lake vs Portland Timbers (02.30)

San Jose Earthquakes vs New York Red Bulls (03.30)

Big Matches

Although the two TV matches are the ones between Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps and the Sporting Kansas City vs LA Galaxy the biggest match of the night is the penultimate one of the evening when Real Salt Lake host the Portland Timbers in a match in which the losers will leave themselves open to missing out on the play-offs. The other big match comes in Atlanta where Atlanta United take on New England Revolution. Atlanta will stay top with a win but New England must win to keep their postseason hopes alive.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere New York Red Bulls will be looking to keep up the heat on Atlanta United or overtake them in the Five Stripes slip up when they face the San Jose Earthquakes. FC Dallas will stay top of the West if they can beat Orlando City while Montreal Impact will be looking to hold off the chasing pack when they host Columbus Crew in the first game of the night.

Betting

Usually at this stage of the season I’m looking for home sides against teams who have nothing to play for or who are out of form and two leap out off the page from this fixture list. The first of those is Toronto FC who have suddenly come alive at home with three high scoring wins in their last four. They take on a Vancouver Whitecaps who aren’t really going anywhere and who strangely sacked Carl Robinson last month. It isn’t ideal that Jozy Altidore is rated as questionable but hopefully he’ll feature and if he does then Toronto have enough in them to put their Canadian rivals away.

The other side who should be looking to pick up three points are FC Dallas. They take on an Orlando City side who fizzled out months ago and who only have one win in 20 dating back to the first weekend in May. FC Dallas are aiming to be the top dogs in the Western Conference and if they are to achieve that not only should they win this match but they should do it with a bit in hand. Orlando haven’t scored in three and if they don’t score here the scoreline will be very one-sided. I think it will be anyway.

Tips

WON – Back FC Dallas (-1.25AH) to beat Orlando City for a 4/10 stake at 1.86 with BetVictor
