MLS 2018 – Sunday 15th July Matches Betting Preview

What has already been a good weekend in the MLS concludes on Sunday evening with the final two matches of the round and although Wayne Rooney’s debut got the majority of the attention these two games have decent profile in their own right.

Four decent sides are in operation over the course of the evening and both matches are live on TV for those of us in the UK so there is plenty to look forward to for those of us who enjoy the American league.

Atlanta United vs Seattle Sounders (19.00)

We begin at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium when the leaders of the Eastern Conference in the form of Atlanta United take on the former champions Seattle Sounders in what should be an entertaining way to get the evening underway.

Atlanta saw their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference disappear when New York City grabbed a late leveller on Saturday evening but a win here will restore their three point gap at the summit of the table. Seattle Sounders have been distanced in the Western Conference and we are getting to the stage where they must win these matches if they are going to make it back to the playoffs.

I’m tempted to get involved with Atlanta here but the Asian line is -1.25 and although Seattle have lost a lot of matches this season, only two of them have been by more than one goal so that is enough for me to swerve this game.

Los Angeles FC vs Portland Timbers (23.00)

The big clash of the night comes in the all-Western Conference battle when Los Angeles FC host the Portland Timbers in a match which could very well be the Championship clash in this Conference later in the season.

Los Angeles have won four of their last five matches while the Portland Timbers are undefeated in 11 games having not won any of their first five so it is clear we are going to be watching two of the form sides in the competition in this match and I think we’re going to see a lot of goals too.

We’ve seen all season that Los Angeles plough their side with attacking players and let them go and express themselves and with Adama Diomande in good form and Carlos Vela back from the World Cup the home side look strong. Portland are not a side who struggle for goals on the road having notched two or more in four of their nine road games. I think we’ll see over 3.25 goals covered here.
