MLS 2018 – Sunday 24th Matches Betting Preview

The first MLS weekend after the mid-season break concludes with two tasty looking clashes on Sunday evening as four of the better sides in the league go at it for three valuable points across the two Conferences.

Among the four sides in action we have the leading two in the Eastern Conference heading into the weekend as well as two of the last three champions of the MLS Cup so the quality is there for all to see in this one.

Atlanta United vs Portland Timbers

The evening begins at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta where top of the pile in the Eastern Conference, Atlanta United host the Western Conference stars of the Portland Timbers in what should be a particularly attractive match up.

Atlanta are usually so good on their own patch though this season they have slipped up a few times which may just focus their minds going into this one but usually the freedom and the gusto with which they attack at home is wonderful to watch. I don’t think Portland will be too fussed with that though because they will have plenty of space with which to launch quality counter attacks.

All that means that I’m expecting the wonderful crowds in the stadium to see another high scoring contest with both sides happy to launch their free flowing style on each other. I’m on over 3.25 goals here.

New York City FC vs Toronto FC

The current MLS champions are in action in the second game of the night when Toronto FC head to New York City FC and the Yankee Stadium to see how the home side do in their first league match since Patrick Vieira departed.

If they adopt the same style as Pep Guardiola teams do then they are going to be very appealing on the eye although whether they will have had the time to adopt that for this match remains to be seen. Toronto FC have not been the same team that they were last year but they are more exciting with them no longer able to rely on their defence.

That all means that we are due for another high scoring contest and with that in mind, and with the quality on show in the two front lines and the weaknesses in the defences, I’m happy to be on the overs here. Matches between these two generate ignite into high scoring contests. I expect this to be no different.
