MLS 2018 – Sunday 29th April Matches Betting Preview

An entertaining MLS weekend concludes with three more matches on Sunday evening as some of the best the league has to offer are in action on a big night in the top league in North America.

Three of the top four sides across the two Conferences are in action over the course of the evening as are the beaten finalists from last year and the form side in MLS right now so we should be treated to three cracking matches. The first two are live on TV in the UK to give the evening an even bigger profile.

Colorado Rapids vs Orlando City (21.00)

The opening match of the night sees the improving Colorado Rapids taking on the form team in MLS right now in Orlando City in what is an interesting first game of the evening. Orlando could move up to third in the Eastern Conference with a win while the Rapids will move into the top five in the West if they are successful.

This is a better Rapids side this season, a more positive one, but there is no doubt they are not going to be helped by the suspension to Tim Howard who was sent off last week. Orlando have won their last four matches coming in here and I suspect they are value in this match but we’ve not seen enough road matches to be certain.

There is one bet I like here which comes in the form of Dom Dwyer to score anytime in the match. He has found the net in every game he has played in this season and is linking up with the likes of Kljestan and Yotun nicely. At a shade under 2/1 I’ll play that he continues his excellent scoring form.

New York City FC vs FC Dallas (23.30)

The second match of the night is the battle of the FCs as New York City look to regain top spot in the Eastern Conference when they host FC Dallas who will be looking to improve their standing in the Western Conference.

New York City have been very impressive this season but they were well beaten in Portland last week and now go up against the only undefeated side left in MLS in FC Dallas. Dallas have won their last two matches but nine goals in six matches highlights a concern in front of goal. On the flip side of that they have only conceded three times which signals where their strength lies. I can’t really decide how I see this one playing out so I’ll sit this one out.

Los Angeles FC vs Seattle Sounders (02.00)

They have waited a while but finally the new franchise Los Angeles FC are able to play a home match this season and what an occasion it is likely to be when they take on the Western Conference champions from last season in Seattle Sounders.

Los Angeles FC could move up to second in the table with a win here and with a stack of games in hand they will only improve that position. After a dreadful start to the season Seattle Sounders picked up their first win last week and will be looking to build on that here. They’ve played fewer matches than anyone so if they can get a run going then they’ll fly up the table once again.

With Clint Dempsey back from suspension I expect Seattle to improve and I expect them to start finding the net more regularly but it is at the other end where they could have their work cut out. Los Angeles might have played fewer matches than most but going into the weekend only Atlanta United had scored more goals than them. I’m expecting goals to flow here and over 3 goals looks the best bet here.
