MLS 2018 – Sunday 30th September Matches Betting Preview

Another round of matches in the MLS concludes on Sunday evening with the last two fixtures with both having plenty of significance as three of the best that Major League Soccer has to offer are in action on a crucial night.

There is a battle which could shape the Supporters’ Shield in the Eastern Conference while top spot and the play-offs in the Western Conference are in focus as well. Both matches are live on TV in the UK which gives us the perfect way to enjoy both games.

New York Red Bulls vs Atlanta United

Second placed New York Red Bulls host the leaders of the Eastern Conference in Atlanta United. Atlanta go into the match with a four point lead on the Red Bulls and a win would take them seven points clear with three matches left. If New York can win they will be within a point and have every chance of landing home advantage throughout the play-offs.

The Red Bulls have started to leak a few goals in recent times which is not what they will have wanted heading into the business end of the season but we know they always have goals in them. After struggling a bit defensively for much of the campaign Atlanta have now found clean sheets in two of their last three albeit against weak attacks.

There is plenty at stake here but Atlanta are not the side to shut up shop and play for a draw even though that would suit them. There is no reason for the New York Red Bulls not to give this a right good go as they’ll finish second even in defeat so I’m hoping this will be an open game and the 2.75 goals can land if so.

Sporting Kansas City vs Real Salt Lake

The second match of the night comes from the Western Conference with second placed Sporting Kansas City hosting sixth placed Real Salt Lake in a match in which the three points would mean plenty to both sides.

Sporting Kansas City are generally pretty strong on their home patch with just two defeats there all season despite a raft of injuries and one of those was to the Western Confrence leaders FC Dallas so they will be confident going in here. Real Salt Lake have found a couple of road wins in recent times but generally struggle on their travels. The visitors need the points here but I’m expecting the class of SKC to tell.
