MLS 2018 – Wednesday 4th July Matches Betting Preview

There is a midweek set of matches in Major League Soccer on Wednesday evening with five games being played up and down America. It promises to be a decent evening of football too with much at stake for a number of sides.

We have one match which is on TV in the UK although you will need to be an insomniac or an incredibly early bird to catch it, while the other matches are all available on the various streaming facilities.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Minnesota United vs Toronto FC (00.00)

FC Dallas vs Atlanta United (01.00)

Colorado Rapids vs Seattle Sounders (02.00)

Real Salt Lake vs Sporting Kansas City (03.00)

Los Angeles Galaxy vs DC United (03.30)

Preview

The TV match is the last one between Los Angeles Galaxy and DC United which had it been in two weeks would have been Zlatan vs Wayne Rooney but the Englishman is not eligible for this game. Nevertheless it is one both teams could do with winning.

Elsewhere the champions Toronto FC could also do with a win when they face Minnesota United while Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders are at the wrong end of the Western Conference table. Real Salt Lake against Sporting Kansas City is a good looking match while FC Dallas against Atlanta United looks like the match of the day.

Betting

I’m attacking the goal lines over the course of the evening with the first one actually being on an under when FC Dallas take on Atlanta United. At 2.75 there is just enough juice in the line to warrant a bet on the under because I don’t expect Dallas to open up and leave themselves exposed to the best attacking unit in the competition but by the same token Atlanta are usually a lot tighter and a lot deeper on their travels as evidenced by the fact they have only scored 11 goals in eight road games. I’m happy to be on the under here.

In the live match I’m going to the other way and taking over 3 goals. In fairness if Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets going he could cover this on his own against a weak DC United defence but I admire the way DC go about their business and they are very good on the counter attack. Recent matches involving DC United have been high scoring and I see no reason why this won’t be the same. LA Galaxy just drew 3-3 last weekend while DC United had that incredible 4-4 draw with Toronto last month. 3 goals is well within range here.
