MLS 2019 – Good Friday Matches Betting Preview

The Easter weekend in the MLS begins on Friday night with three matches in the division as the league continues to take shape. Teams have had time to get up to speed now and we should soon start to see who will emerge as contenders.

Three good looking matches form the action on Friday, or the early hours of Saturday morning for those of us who are in the UK. We are reduced to the streams for all three matches but there are plenty of them on offer.

FC Cincinnati vs Real Salt Lake (00.30)

The first match to begin sees the new boys FC Cincinnati taking on Real Salt Lake in a cross-Conference clash between two sides who sit in mid-table in their respective Conferences and will be looking to build a run of form.

Cincinnati began their campaign pretty well but they are now three without a victory heading into this match and will be looking to turn their form around. Real Salt Lake ended a run of four successive defeats last time out when they took care of Orlando City, but in truth there wasn’t a whole lot to like about them. I’d favour Cincinnati to win here but I can’t be betting odds on so I’ll skip this one.

Toronto FC vs Minnesota United (01.00)

There is another match between sides in either Conference for the second match to kick off on Friday night when Toronto FC take on Minnesota United, two teams who have made positive starts to their campaigns.

Toronto FC lost their unbeaten start last week but there is no shame in losing at the Seattle Sounders. Minnesota United got back to winning ways a couple of matches ago and then drew with New York City FC in the first match at their new stadium last week. Goals have been a pretty regular fixture in the matches of both these sides this season.

Only LAFC have more goals in the West than Minnesota, whose matches are averaging 4.17 goals per game while Toronto FC are the leading scorers in the Eastern Conference, averaging 2.8 goals per game themselves. That all suggests we are likely to see goals in this match and over 3 looks a big price to me.

LA Galaxy vs Houston Dynamo (04.00)

The final match on the slate on Friday night is an all-Western Conference clash between Los Angeles Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo in a clash that sees two of the top four in the division doing battle in a decent looking game.

The Galaxy sit third in the table heading into the evening with five wins from their six matches while the Dynamo take an unbeaten start to California with them so these are two form sides and that should produce a really good contest. Given how well both are playing, this one is hard to call. I guess with home advantage you would favour Galaxy but at odds on they look plenty short enough to me. I wouldn’t want to oppose Houston either so I’ll leave this one alone.
